Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

DC he looks o he really struggling to get away a clean disposal even when he starts with 5 yards head start he is taken in and can't dispose of it. Limited preseason or no he looks slow and it is hurting us.

thats what happens when the side is constantly under the pump... it strarted in the 1st Qtr with poor inytensity when the ball was in our back half, 7 when we got the ball back down back the flow & sped of the transition was cruellijng our mids & our forwards.

this killed the energy levels across the whole side, & made them run & chase with lead weights in the legs.

#selection this week is Critical. we have to get it right.... forget about watts contract this year & drop him.

from gameday thread.

Pedro is recruited as a depth player to help out when a player gets injured. not to be the main go to man.

It was expected to have Clark & Dawes up forward, as the 2 key Talls, but surely you do realise that?????

you want the club to stay as it has been for the last 8 Yrs. going nowhere... but downhill as it did...

our list is not as bad is it appears right now.

we'll get the players back on the field... Dawes maybe this week... Gawn must play deep, & changing 2nd ruck because he still doesn't have his leep back yet, for a No 1 ruck duties.

whatever: watts has to go,,,, & Strauss, Dunn & Nicho must return,,, Or the Blues will wipe us off the map.

For God's sake get off Watt's back. He kicked two goals when moved forward with crap supply. He backed back to take a mark and did, early and got clobbered. He is the only bloke in the side, besides Davey, who can actually pass it to a team mate.

We are incapable of passing the ball by foot or hand and this makes at least 5 years I have been banging on about it.

When we turn it over the overlap is usually a goal.

We also have no midfield.

We zone and leave opposition players free and it is killing us.

We were second to the ball, always behind the man, and took too many short steps. They embarrassed us on the spread and overlap. They hammered us in the clearances. The zone doesn't work, when it is stationary!

Loving Terlich's effort, Max Gawn, Watts up forward ( showed sublime skills in marking and goal kicking).

We won the umpiring by a mile.

Maloney cut us a new one.

Brisbane kicked 2.8 in Q2: we were lucky to be in it at half time.

Work rate, clearances and confidence. Where can we buy some?

My opinion champ.. You're entitled to yours.

10 tackles is great but like watts I saw a lot of jogging just a few metres off the contest ball watching. He's not fit enough granted but I question his intensity right now.

Exactly!!! he just wants to receive.

Out !!! >>>

Wah wah wah get your chins up you babies

No matter how stupid you are you can (hopefully) count, we have matched our opponent for 7 of the last 12 quarters. These are obviously small joys but clearly we have improved since the start of the year. 3 weeks ago we lost by 148, today by 28. Obviously some of you are so pathetic that this rate of improvement is not enough for you.

Today at 3:40 into the last qtr, a shot on goal from Sylvia would have reduced the margin to 13 points, he just missed. We matched them for goals in the 1st,2nd and 4th quarters, only losing by the 3 extra goals we conceded in the third. Obviously they kept fighting for most of the game unlike lying down they did for large periods of the first 3 rounds.

This was an interstate game without Clark or Dawes, I think it is fair to say those 2 are worth the 3 goals we lost by. Clearly the likes of Jones, McDonald, Trengove and Grimes were well below their best today. We KNOW they are better than that. We have Viney, Toumpas and Hogan to come into the side over the next few... and I don't know wtf is wrong with some people but Byrnes and Rodan were OK today. Just because you hate losing doesn't give you the right to blatently lie in order to slag off Neeld.

We are coming from a long way back, these needs to occur gradually, you can't just expect to improve 1000% from week to the next. Stop your bloody whingeing FCS.

Good post C & B

Let down today badly by our decision making and turnovers which cost us 5/6 goals directly

Our run and spread continues to be a problem

We lacked forward pressure when the ball went to ground in our forward half and once they cleared it through the corridor they run hard to provide options and leads

Trengove struggling? if 10 tackle is struggling, i cant wait to see what top form is.

Trengove is on the improve after a very VERY limited pre season....

Good player yes, but currently is symbolic of one of the major things wrong with Melbourne. He would let an opposition player attack the ball, as he prepared to tackle. This is for all the players - Attack the ball first and foremost, there loose players mean nothing if you have the ball in your hand!

Can't believe people are trashing Watts, he did ok 16 touches 2 goals both clutch kicks. I read on the gameday thread that he was running from end to end chasing hence the reason he looked stuffed everytime he had to chase.

Poor Jack had to chase, welcome to the AFL. He was pathetically lazy in the first half.

I agree Tom McDonald should be dropped, most overrated player on the list at the moment.

2 great kicks & thats all he did, & one wasn't the % play...

he was the cause of the side floundering... why do you think they gave up on him down back?

He wouldn't lead at the ball carrier,,, & when he ended up with the ball up forward, he would not use his feet to run, & carry it a bit. he's glued to the spot.

Considering how poor we were in some aspects of the game, we must have done some things well because we kept scoring throughout. Yes. I know Brisbane missed a lot but I still think it was promising how we got inside 50's and some fantastic goals (Jamar, Howe, Watts, Pederson, Gawn).

Its the midield.

No use bagging Watts or Frawley or the like.

Our midfield is slow and only works one way.

When we get it in forward 50 we do ok

Our Backs are constantly under the pump.

The sooner we can get Viney and Toumpas up to scratch the better.

We are also still desperate for an A grade midfielder, and must move heaven and earth to get one on the off season, if if we have to pay a million a year.

I can only point to fitness thats the only explanation i can find for... no spread, no midfield pressure, not hitting targets we are slow and well off the pace...the better sides will cruze to a 12 goal win against us. But y?? Misson? how are we so far behind we need aswers

if i hear the coach say we didnt see that coming im ganna puke... look at the possession count were at vfl level.

Bris vs Melbourne

16th vs 17th.

122 vs 94

37 scoring shots to 24 scoring shots.

The scoreboard flattered us.

I thought we were bad last year. We are worse this year.

More speed and run is needed through the midfield clearly. Kent could add this though I'm not completely sure if he plays much in the middle. Blease needs to get much fitter as all he is good for at the moment is one or two quick dashes and then he is cooked.

This years draft/trade period is absolutely critical for our midfield.

Gawn was great again. Love how he tries his heart out and seems to think he is a midfielder - Jamar should watch him more closely. We needed a bit more physicality in the center too, to put more pressure on big grunts like Beamer.

Of course he has to chase but did you see how many times he had to cover 2,3 & even 4 players? On top of that prior to being dropped he was crucified for not "filling the gap" as a loose man in Defence.

I just want to see him play forward. There was 1 or 2 occasions he crashed packs, and he did kick 2 goals in the 2nd half as a leading forward.

No matter what anyone says I still have faith in Jack Watts.

Imagine of these pea hearts only got paid on performance alone. Reckon they'd have a bloody go then.

Jones tagged out of game.

Trengrove struggling.

No spread.

No accountability.

Not one ounce of mongrel in the team.

Do you ever watch Luke Tapscott or Dean Terlich?

What does Barn Dee say about 'soft eggs'?

I'm not happy about where we are at but WTF did you expect?! It's sad that we are here (and there are people to blame) but with the cattle we had out there, we got the result I would have expected.

Are we turning into the new Richmond? By that I mean, are we going to be best known for our vitriolic and snarky supporters? I have been accused of being 'overly negative' by some on here but I will always call things as I see them. It's why I pipe up when I hear people say Daniher wrecked the club. It's why I criticize the red and blueprint and all the PR related [censored] that entailed. It's why I criticize Neeld's approach (though he seems to have woken up to some degree).

If we got beaten by 10 goals, then fair enough. I just can't lose my s*** today as it was what was expected.

its not totally the midfield, but today we lost the zest we had from last week from the setup down back. our rebound awas really poor bringing the ball back from defence which had everyone 2nd guessing watt was going to happen.

this is where it all fell apart.

we need some movement from our halfbacks when with the ball... not static Meerkat-ing with ball.

we need 2 halfbacks in & a running Midfielder in. & Dawes asap, but he'll struggle with Clark out.

I want him to go back & work on these things.

he's a liability on the teams energy levels.

No, a lot of his "chases" were half-hearted efforts, he just cannot be bothered working hard.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
