Yeah, I listened to it. Still don't like it though. :P

Yeah can't wait for him to suit up, although watching Gawn today I understand the importance of the conservative approach.

Yeah, 2 to 3 weeks away. Bloody hopeless. How in hell can a hamstring injury take up to 6/7 weeks? Talk about a conservative approach.

What's hopeless? That we don't want him to get injured again and again?

So have calmed down a bit, anyone want to retract there per year comments that Davey is done? Very critical sub for us today, took a few minutes to find the ball but his goals came when the game was in the balance, he still has plenty to offer.

I'm stoked to hear Flash had an impact, I really hope he has a good year. What (very little) I've seen of him he seems to have gotten a bit of his Davey dance back.

Give thing is backing this quarter up with a good 4 quarter effort v Lions. I can accept us losing but we must so everything to try not to be blown off the park. If we can achieve that it'll be something to build on. The important thing is its given a few of the younger players a taste of victory at AFL level. Even if Viney didn't have a good game (whether he was injured or not) he has had his first win.

So we won over GWS?? A team that has been in the comp for 27 games?

Just checking. Was wondering why people were getting so excited.

perhaps its because we lost 3 by 100 and were every chance to lose again

that didn't happen and in fact we played a qtr of pure domination

this proved we have at least some ticker and not a list of total duds

you think maybe that's why?

I don't think that people will be basing their comments on GWS's performance on their newness to the comp pretty soon. So more than happy to be able to beat them when they were looking for a scalp and had nothing to lose.

Evans: hadn't seen anything in him until today, he was superb.. same goes for Tapscott, apart from the two shocking shots on goal. Byrnes was excellent too.. MJones, Terlich, big maxy, Bail even Pedo did a few quality things.. there is nothing more pleasing than seeing these second shelf types prove themselves

I can't believe people aren't more pumped, 12 goals in a quarter without Clark and Dawes, dodgy video reviews, dogy ump calls, some shocking luck (eg the ball bouncing striaght over tommy mac to setanta) some stupid frees/50s against Clark and Jetta, we should have won by considerably more than 41. We also conceded 5 goals in 12 minutes in the second when they completely lost focus.. but they got it back big time. Playing what is likely to be another winless side next week, let's all stop wallowing and get fired up

I am absolutely pumped. That was an epic final quarter. And win.

Down and out against the co-cellar dwellers, who've actually shown a bit this year. We've been bagged mercilessly all year, down on confidence, down by 19 points at 3/4 time, plenty of talk in the media of massive changes if we fail to win the game, poor umpiring decisions during the entire game to overcome - in short, so much stacked against a win by this player group in the circumstances.

And then - Geelong like intensity at the ball. And skill - it began to look like a training drill.

Don't under-estimate that win - it was fantastic in the circumstances. Not to over-estimate it either, but we really needed it.

This is apparently the third oldest football club in the world. It is the oldest in the league. And we have won 12 premierships.

And not ever before have we had a 12.2 final quarter.

Bloody fantastic.

So yep - I'm pumped C&B.

Also maybe because instead of just caving in they actually found that something that we know is there - determination and guts. Things that we haven't seen too much of late.

I hope all the players you guys have singled out for greatness today turn up against the Lions and the Blues in the next 2 weeks,if they don't,nothing has changed!

Every other team calls GWS the "BYE",we call it a "WIN".

We were expected to win by 8 goals,2 goals a quarter and we didn't.

Can I point out that the Giants did push the Swans in round 1 and also pushed the Power as well. They aren't that bad and will sneak a few wins this year so the win should still be seen as a big positive. We desperately need to build a strong midfield though coz we get smashed there every week.

Don't underestimate GWS. They may have more wins this year than some expect.

100% agree.

Their core midfield group are lightning fast, courageous and skills are getting better.

I believe that they will smack a team or two this year.

Pederson was good today and is getting better as he learns more about the playing styles of his new team mates. He is a goer, with a strong body, is a decent kick and an above average mark. A few here will have to eat their words about him too!

A bit of a different description to what was said after the first round waynewussell but good to see.

maaaaate, were going to be 2/3 after this week. weve got the bad stuff out of the road and gws midfield is better than brizzies, also we had to battle for that EASY win and nothing beats having to struggle to win a game,i am also agreat believer you start the next game how you finished the last . yes dont get to excited but enjoy the ride and climb onto the dee train at least for this week

It almost seemed that the team was de/shackled in the last 1/4.

Very very bizarre. I think the last quarter performance shows we have very good talent in our team. Why we are not allowed to play like that every quarter is one more reason to suggest that neeld is not getting the most out of our players.

Yes i entirely blame Neeld for the players playing ok in the first quarter, poorly in the next two quarters and then sensationally in the last quarter...yes...its Neeld....( how dare he not allow the players to play well.. come on Mark - let them play well...pleaaassse)

Tell me what you expected at 3 qtr time.

Did they exceed those expectations?

I thought dead and almost buried.

My silent pray was to sneak across the line and get 4 points.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
