Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Changes for Round 4 vs. GWS

Recommended Posts

Jamar won't go out of the side, he'd be expected to dominate the hit outs against GWS and at least give us first use out of the centre.

I agree Jamar is in poor form around the ground, actually pathetic form.

But it will be important again the GWS to give our mids first use.

Jamar is no chance of going out the side this week

Gawn is a key player. Hopefully he has made his sacrifices to the injury Gods and will have a clear run from here. 208cm and 111kg. A Ruck who can go forward and take a mark and lay a tackle. There won't be many key defenders feeling comfortable playing on him.

Outs

Jamar, Toumpas, Sellar, Byrnes

Ins

Spencer, Gawn, Strauss, Kent

Watts to play for Casey and take on the game with his athleticism now he is fit. Toumpas to get some full games at Casey.

Team

B N Jetta Frawley Garland

HB Grimes McDonald Terlich

C Evans N Jones Bail

HF Tapscott Pederson Trengove

F Howe Clark Davey

R Spencer Viney M Jones

I/c Strauss Kent Sylvia Gawn

is it time to send Watts back forward - you could kick lots of goals without your opponent nearby

Only if the team kicks it to you.

The opposite will probably occur, run off watts and score goals the other way.

CAN WE ADD A TAG TO THE THREAD.

If Watts doesnt play... Neeld has lost me. And FFS get Magner into the team!

I agree....if Watts plays, Neeld has lost me.

And, for the one thousandth time, Magner is ineligble to play.

Maybe re-read the post mate....

For the very few that haven't omitted Toumpas for this week, have a listen to Neeld's presser. He pretty much said he will be playing VFL next week. There's no way known he'll play.
For the record I remember watching Pendles early on and thinking he was rubbish because he looked lost and caught with the ball everytime he got the pill. Now pendles is one of the best players to watch in the AFL. Not saying he will end up like pendles but I see a similar looking player with the Toump, give the kid time...he'll be alright

DUH! I know Magner is ineligible!

... The point about Magner is more that its ridiculous that he is just a rookie when he had given more effort than 3/4 of the team... Melbourne and Nathan Jones needs it. Poor decision by the football department IMO to keep him a rookie. This has probably been stated before, if it has... thats fantastic :-)

[i[ playing him in defence is like playing Neitz in defence - a big white flag.

How long have you been around?

Neita excelled at CHB for the Dees;

Wayne Carey nominated him as his hardest opponent ever.

There were no white flags when he was in defence- not even for a point.

a big warning bell is that not once have i heard the media comment on a decisionby the football department positively. everything the FD does seems to dumbfound the media. not that they have to do what the media says but the fact that every observer outside the club seems to be also left perplexed does make me concerned. i cant believe some of the decisions the match committe make to be honest.

What has he done to earn his place since he was dropped? Given, it's not his fault that he was held back last week and unable to play for the Scorpions, but he needs to PROVE that he wants to be wearing the MFC colours on game day. Once he performs at Casey, he can have his spot back.

I don't know why you would put Pederson in the backline in lieu of Sellar and why not give Gawn a run on the weekend? i don't think that you need worry about Scully as much as some of the others in the GWS team; did you check out his possessions last week?

Why Jetta out?

He didn't get too many touches but at least he was composed and used the footy well. His off the ball work was excellent too. Unlike 80% of the team, he knows what a block is. Also laid some ripper tackles.

What astounded me is every time he came on the ground he went to the opposite end of the ground. Back then forward, back then forward x 15. How the hell are you supposed to settle, get momentum doing that? I'm not surprised with the resulting number of touches.

Watts on Cameron? Cameron is out of form, Watts would allow him to take 12 marks.

If Watts comes back into this team without spending a single day working on his fatal flaws, then this footy department can get [censored].

Out: Jamar, Bail, Davey

In: Gawn, Kent, Blease (or Hogan in Troy Davis' jumper?)

Blease may not have completely earned a recall, but his pace will be usefull off the leash against an inexperienced side.

Fatal flaws? Do you work for the Herald Sun?

If he is down on confidence and the coach wont play him at casey, he should play against the GWS and be given very simple but explicit task for whatever position he is played in. If the guy is down in the dumps from his grandfathers passing and then being the poster boy for all things wrong at the Dees, I dont think having him sit out of a game against the Giants will help him find form or help him develop character. This would be a poor coaching decision, which coupled with what seems to be a lot of other poor decisions (from the outside looking in) this would lead me to believe Neeld might not really know wtf hes doing.

neeld , please put watts on the wing and leave him there for a couple of months. perhaps rotate him in the forward pocket . he could be a great link man out of defence. the match committee are making decisions without foresight. very reactionary. its killing us. now they are stuck with what to do with him as they feel they need to make a statement but a game against gws is the best opportunity for someone like watts to get some confidence.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
