Props to this man for turning it all around. If there was ever proof that everything rests on the players' shoulders, this is it. No change of coaching, no big sackings; just a 180 degree turnaround in intensity and effort.

Bravo Colin Garland!

Now we just need another 20 players to do the same......

Well done Col. Melbourne's best two weeks in a row in my book.

I'll go one further with Col. This is the best footy I have seen him play. His disposal is now really good. No more of those shocking kicks with no weight behind them. It's ironic cos the rest of the team have gone in the opposite direction!

Unsung underrated player at MFC. He and Frawlet have a terrible time dealing with the avalanche of opposition attacks from a poor midfield.

Happy to swallow my pride with Col. He has been terrific the last few weeks. I am trying hard to take note of who is consistently playing well in these rubbish times, and Garland is certainly winning me over.

Seems as if Col has decided that he'll take the bull by the horns and become the premier backman at the club; if chip takes up the challenge he might just fight back to retain is position.

I'm not sure if there has been a word or two in his ear, but he seems to have stepped up an looks more confident than he has before; great work Col and hopefully a few others will follow your lead.

Didn't Neil Craig praise him after the GWS game saying something along the lines of "that's what leadership is".

I agree, the penny has seems to have dropped with him and he isn't just going with the flow.

Yes it's amazing what can happen around the age of 25 and the 70+ games mark.

Same with Jones.

Without opening another thread..... Dunn did a good job on Judd today.... He seems a fitter and more rounded player....

Garland has done a great job the last couple of weeks, hopefully he continues his improvement..... I remember him hold buddy to 2 goal, in his100 goal year.... He's got in him to be far better.... Hopefully he doesn't go backwards after his injury today....

Now all we need is a midfield and for all our player to remain fit.....lol

Posted

Maybe he has now developed body size & footy nous ...... Perhaps we should give some of our younger players the same time frame to develop.......

Why would that make any difference between his games up until 3/4 time against GWS and since. What about Terlich, he's a bit older but can't be fully developed physically and yeah he makes the odd mistake but largely he's having a crack. Seems we can develop more than half a defense to have a crack but when the ball goes up in the midfield which is an even contest every time the only one who looks to have any semblance of interest is Nathan Jones.

You are so spot on ! Imagine how they would go, if they had the collingwood midfield of Swan, Pendles etc.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
