Sick of turnovers costing us goals, sick of poor skill execution, sick of only being able to pay 1/2 a game, sick of seeing the same players making the same mistakes every week, sick of not seeing any game-plan response to being slaughtered in the centre clearance every week - thiscan't go on - Neeld and assistant coaches have to go!

I don't have the stats for the centre square clearances, but overall, we lost the clearances 38-36. Against a very talented midfield i wouldn't say that is being slaughtered, in fact, i think it was probably our best effort of the year in that regard.

Someone had to do a job on Judd and I thought he did it well.

He had an impact. If he allowed Judd to run riot, the loss could have potentially been up to 100 points. Someone has to negate for the overall process of discipline and success.

I think that Rhys Jones won a BOG in a grand final for playing a negating role?

It's a building block, another step.

I believe, in the last 18 months, that Dunn has lifted his intensity and work rate.

The scoreline at half time did not reflect the game.

We had a stack of forward 50 entries and we were unlucky/too inexperienced to capitalise on them.

Did not help that we had Mitch Clark out. He kicks goals on the smell of an oily rag, and we actually had the fuel pumps flowing for a while there.

I thought there were some very encouraging signs from that game - especially the second quarter.

But heh - let's bag Neeld instead. It seems to have become a hobby for many of you. Pity it's so bloody boring/repetitive.

Matt Jones and Terlich were good and seem to be consistently so.

Givens the forward line outs and losing Grimes in the first we fought it out while gifting the Blues half their goals through skill errors (MacDonald) and poor execution of high risk decisions.

Another factor is simply that many of the players have played too few games with each other and are taking time to Gel. That embarrassing missed goal in the first with two players running for goal being a prime example.

Glimmers on another grim day, but some improvement can be seen.

Dunn is a 100 game player with natural ability. If we're seriously saying he has turned things around on the back of one good game as a tagger, we're in deeper strife than I thought. The expectations on him need to be alot higher than that. He needs to demand his spot in the team and be a consistent contributor.

I have said previously that to me it was evident in the first 3 rounds that Neeld did not have the players on board but that perhaps something had changed as evidenced by the last quarter against GWS and big chunks against the lions, a change perhaps as a result of changes in how he is going about it and maybe on the back of the visit to Sorrento to clear the air. A flame flickering i called it.

We'll i think the flame is burning a little brighter after the weekend. Yes we made tonnes of errors but we fought hard and played with the sort of spirit that is displayed when players are playing for their coach. Some sample quotes from the wrap up of the game by Greg Baum (a writer i respect):

"Melbourne played like men possessed.....

The Demons ran and attacked and harried and harassed and fought and fetched the ball out of trouble and into it again..........

The Melbourne men put their heads over the ball with such commitment that they won the free kick count 26-16, ..........

For much of the evening, Melbourne led the inside 50 count, the contested possession count and the clearance count, all dimensions of dedication, ........

Melbourne demonstrated fanatical work ethic, and pride, and spirit, and heart .........."

This attributes are exactly what DL posters have been screaming for and are what we saw on the weekend. Add to that we were a rotation down for much of the game thanks to an injury to one of our most prolific ball winners yet we did not throw in the towel and like the game against the lions kept going to the final siren. I loved the feeling i got when i saw players committed to the contest. Stuff the turnovers - i'm used to them.

The dees had 4 of our best 22 out (5 if you count Jetta which i do) and a bunch of changes from the previous week (which always has a negative impact on a teams chances). With the lineup we had a ten goal loss was ok and was an accurate measure of the difference between the sides as Carlton played a hard brand and were looking to put us to the sword (as opposed to say the Cats who toyed with dogs the previous week). As a commentator during the game noted they were ruthless. And we could have easily been 2-3 goals closer if we had taken some basic chances like the Viney miss (which ended up being 2 goal turn around and was real shame as there was a great build up).

Good on the boys for having a dip and credit where credit is due for Neeld for getting them up for the game and remaining positive.

I have said consistently that it will be results (as measured by an absence of hammerings and the occasional win) that will determine Neelds fate and these results are determined by the players spirit and willingness to play for their coach. Good summary, I'm no longer a fan of Neeld, but you have to give credit where it's due and the effort by the players was much better this week; the skill level was the huge difference between the two sides.

We turned the ball over so much it was laughable and we could have been a little bit closer if we'd taken advantage of the shots on goal we missed. What Bail had in mind when we had players loose and he was running in towards goal is beyond me. Terlich needs to dispose of the ball quicker, he's not playing SANFL any more and Spencer needs to develop strength so he doesn't get pushed aside in the contest.

Some of the players turned the corner and if they can continue it we may win a game or two before the end of the season.

I saw enough in the second Quarter to please me.

We could have been in front at half time had the ball bounced differently.

For mine Neeld is still under the pump but i now believe he can do it.

The team had a REAL crack without a forward line.

Improvement seen in endeavour.... We made too many simple skill errors... BUT when our best 22 players are playing together allowing this team to get to know each other better , I believe we WILL become a more respected combination. I have been as frustrated and disappointed as most other members BUT I did see some glimpse of improvement in the attitude of many players on Sunday regardless of the unacceptable 10 goal defeat.. "baby steps" is a very apt description of Sunday's effort... Let's not tear our players to pieces ALL the time Credit where it's due. Good signs of improvement are better than NO signs... We have to beat the Gold Coast this week and beat them with authority... Frawley and Garland and some of our other More senior players did show some of the old grit, which, to me at least was encouraging...

I don't know if it's just me but I thought the team addressed the issue of positioning and zoning quite well yesterday.

Being at the game is much different to watching on television, but you could tell the team addressed the issues present in the Brisbane game.

A few times they made Carlton pass back into their defensive area and a Demons players sprinted up on the mark to push them back. The only problem is that once we forced them into a long kick the Blues were too classy and quick around the stoppages. A few times the ball fell behind the pack and they go the goal.

I think yesterday was more representative of a top-4-caliber team finally running away from a bottom-4 team. Potentially Melbourne could have been ahead at half-time if not for wayward kicking and taking advantage of inside-50s.

It was a considerably better performance than the Eagles match, and imo more promising than the Brisbane match (which I am still adamant the team should have won).

Anything less than a 5-10 goal pasting of the Suns is unacceptable. They are no easy-beats though.
