Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POST GAME - ROUND 1

Agree with that; we look a lot worse this year than last because we've loaded up the side with older players who have absolutely no upside.

Also agree, I came into this game thinking our team was definitely weaker than last year based on what I saw of the new guys over pre-season.

Geez that post game presser was depressing even more.

Neeld and Grimes have NO CLUE what happened or how to fix it.

Sure they seemed disappointed, but it was a passionless disappointment, almost a sense of resignation.

Make no mistake, we are going nowhere.

This club has a history of putting in insipid performances each year - on average 3-5 per year. Regardless of who is coach and what playing group.

Its a cultural thing that has plagued our club for decades. We will come out next week and have a crack but we will fall back to our insipid ways again. Mark my words and count them during the year.

Changing culture is not easy and I thought Neeld was the man to do but now I doubt it.

I listened to the game on Triple M. Carey and Schwass didn't hold back and used words such as insipid, embarrassing, putrid.

It's clearly an attitude problem with too many players. You'd have someone like Jack Viney who would go back to the rooms and be hurting on the inside, then you have Mr "Losing doesn't bother me" Watts who's probably sitting there thinking about how many Pink Bacardi Breezers he'll sip through a straw tonight.

We are a bottom 4 side on talent but the effort today was as if we barely cared.

Thanks Sylvia Saint for making me cack myself through these hard and disgusting times lol

I think it's time for Neeld to use Mick malthouse's love in technique.

Who wants to play to under a ruthless, overly methodical [censored]! If you love your coach you will play for him and given the fall out of Moloney, Riv etc I dont think Neeld's players are buying in.

Give the players some confidence to take the game on.

I've been writing on Demonland and Demonology since about 2005, but after today (I didn't even see all the game) I've had enough. I am so sick of riding the wave, I'll still watch and maybe attend a game or two but life is too short to waste on here hoping that things will come good.

Not to get sappy but I enjoy your posts and hope you stick around.

I enjoyed watching jack watts interview post match. Although its scary that he seems so broken after round 1. If the boys don't find some confidence it's going to be a horror year

We have been accepting mediocrity for as long as I can remember. We are still fostering it with Neeld starting to sprout the 'we have the 3rd least experienced group' line. Lack of competitiveness and insipid structures have little to do with the experience of the list. Out coached by a first game coach and most of the players were embarrassed by a first gamer showing more desire and passion than the lot...

A thousand times this. I don't want to hear any more about how we're at 85% fitness, have a young list, need to get the players up around 100-150 game mark etc etc. All this does is create excuses for insipid performances, there are no more excuses for not being a chance to win every single game we front up for. No we may not be a realistic chance to win the flag but we should be a realistic chance to win a GAME. Balls in your court Neeld, Craig, Schwab and McLardy.

I don't get the 85% fit bit. What about new recruits, or players from other clubs. Are they all one/two years off the pace as well. It's part of the culture that says give up on winning games because we will win them in the future.

As a group we need to make the club aware of what is wrong and has been happening for some years.

1. We handball to another player who is standing next to an opponent. Indeed, we even handball directly to an opponent !

2. We kick long into a pack and hope someone will mark it - they too often don't.

3. We need desperation - perhaps we do the same as those poor horses in Ireland facing becoming dog food. Do or DIE !!!

4. We need people to lead out for the ball all over the ground!

5. We need shorter kicks which go to those leads.

6. Only kick long if someone is free or at most only has to beat his opponent.

Thats enough!

OK guys/ gals add somer more!!

Great post!

You have to blame the coach.

Look at Hinkley after only 3 months his team were hard at it and put tonnes of defensive pressure on.

Why cant we get to these basics?

This is surely base 1. Commitment, desire, full on in ya face defensive pressure.

We have a spineless coach and a team of pansies.

There is something seriously wrong at our club, Moloney and Rivers could see we are a lost cause, thats why they left.

Hard to play against????

Ha ha ha ha ha ha !

Feel so sorry for Jack Viney,Jack Grimes, Nath Jones,Jimmy Toumpas, Matt Jones and Mitch Clark, to have to play with below par losers like, Jamar,Dunn,Sellar,Garland,Frawley, Sylvia,Byrnes,Rodan,Nicholson,Tappscot etc etc etc..

it was a big mistake hiring an inexperienced coach after the disater of 2011 and with the still unresolved bitter divisions in the club. Neelds approach has only set the divisions into concrete. There should have been a time for healing but considering who we have in charge it was not possible. Edited by Muvver Jones

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
