Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

They are kinda strange all the time in Adelaide.

I think it has something to do with the water

Presuming we plan for hot weather here is the 24 who (judging from the comments in the article about rested players and injuries) are in the squad. Seems like Sylvia was the unlucky guy as to me he is the only clear best 22 player in this squad. Obviously some of these guys will end up in round 1 team.

FB: Strauss Gillies Jetta

HB: Nicholson Sellar Macdonald

C: Evans Magner Stark

HF: Sylvia Hogan Tapscott

FF: Davey Pedersen Fitzpatrick

Foll: Spencer Couch M. Jones

Int; Taggert, Barry, Davis, Terlich, Kent, Tynan

Rested: Jack Grimes, Nathan Jones, Chris Dawes, Tom McDonald, Jack Watts, Jordie McKenzie, Jeremy Howe, David Rodan, Mark Jamar, Colin Garland, Shannon Byrnes, Lynden Dunn, Jimmy Toumpas and Jack Viney

INJ: Frawley, Blease, Trengove, Clark, Gawn, Bail, Clisby

Interesting that Sylvia is the odd inclusion. Could it be that he has been told he has to show something to justify his status.

Or that he has had some minor interuptions and a late start to preseason and he needs to build his fitness?

One thing about Sylvia is he often starts the year slowly, sometimes its due to injury but I think it his form as well. By getting some extra games and touch into him it should allow him to find form for early in the season. I imagine he doesn't have to play a full game or a large percentage in the midfield but just getting a run might be good for his form.

I have pasted below the article from the MFC website. it looks like a Casey Scorpions team particularly when you look who has been rested (including our whole leadership group)! Are they serious?

MELBOURNE will unveil three players for the first time when it takes on Port Adelaide in the second round of the NAB Cup this Sunday.

Rory Taggert, Dom Barry and Nathan Stark will play their first official match for the club, as the Demons take a young and largely inexperienced squad to Renmark in country South Australia, starting at 4pm.

Taggert, a tough ball winner, was Melbourne’s first pick in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft, when he was claimed at No. 36. The 19 year-old managed just three VFL matches in 2012, after his year was rocked by a back injury.

The pacy Barry, a Northern Territory zone selection traded by Greater Western Sydney, came to Melbourne last October via a deal which also netted key forward Jesse Hogan as a 17 year-old trade incentive selection.

Stark, a tenacious midfielder, was selected at No.3 in last December’s NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

Along with Taggert, Barry and Stark, the Demons will also play James Strauss, Josh Tynan, Luke Tapscott, Troy Davis and Jack Fitzpatrick for the first time this year.

Hogan will play again, after impressing considerably upon his first hit-out for the Demons last Friday night against North Melbourne and Richmond at Etihad Stadium.

Colin Sylvia, Cam Pedersen, James Magner, Dan Nicholson and Neville Jetta have been named in the side. They will be the only Demons to have featured in all three games so far this year.

New Demons Tom Gillies, Dean Kent, Matt Jones and Dean Terlich will play against the Power, after they played one match each last week.

Melbourne will be without a host of players, including Jack Trengove (foot), Mitch Clark (foot), James Frawley (eye laceration), Sam Blease (ankle), Rohan Bail (concussion), Max Gawn (hamstring) and Mitch Clisby (hamstring).

Jack Grimes, Nathan Jones, Chris Dawes, Tom McDonald, Jack Watts, Jordie McKenzie, Jeremy Howe, David Rodan, Mark Jamar, Colin Garland, Shannon Byrnes, Lynden Dunn, Jimmy Toumpas and Jack Viney have all been rested.

The Demons will return to Victoria for the third week of the NAB Cup, hosting St Kilda at Casey Fields on March 9 at 2.30 pm.

This is the right move, who cares about a round 2 Pre-season game in Renmark, the only thing to be gained are players on the fringe for round 1 stake a claim and young players gain experience.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
