Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We need a change.

McLardy has been an honorable servant of the club but it’s time for a change. We need someone of impeccable character who can speak with a clear and untainted voice, who can speak to the members and for the members, who understands the unfulfilled aspirations of the supporters, the players and indeed the league itself, someone of commercial background, someone who knows what success means, who can take us forward, someone with guts, broad shoulders and resilience, a person of high profile, a commanding personality that demands respect and can touch each and every supporter regardless of their team, someone that respects but is not bogged down by our history. Is there such a person? I say there is - Kitty from Progressive Online Car Insurance. And Bluey for CEO.

The change we need, at least on this board, is a "Do not like" button for this sort of post!

What's not to like? KD Lang is actually spot on here... Is it wrong that after reading the first 4 lines I thought bring back PG?

I disagree with this on pretty much every point. I think Don has been doing an amazing job in very difficult times. He has kept the club moving in the right direction while things looked like going to hell. He's maintained the solidarity of the board and the club as a whole through this entire mess, all the while resisting the temptation to do an Eddie and make it all about him. He's doing exactly what the club president needs to do and keeping the focus on the team while deflecting negative influences (such as a recent pseudo-investigation) and keeping the club running smoothly. This guy has been awesome for the club and now that we appear to have weathered the storm, he deserves to keep on with the club while we move onwards and taste success.

There's no need for jokes around the place when dealing with the club and its leaders after a couple of years under fire.

We held an AGM two weeks ago and there wasn't a word of dissent against McLardy or his board at any time during the evening. There was ample opportunity for critics to question the administration over any aspect of club policy.

Since then he showed himself to be statesmanlike in steering the club through the difficult "tanking" negotiations.

Where were the snipers who want change when the club had its AGM? Where were the people to put their hands up who want to take over and effect the change you're talking about?

I know where the snipers were when times were tough and we were copping criticism over sponsors, poor performances on field, questioning the coach's appointment, the Mifsud/Davey affair, Brock McLean on On the Couch and countless other issues.

Some of them were talking to Wilson or snitching to the AFL or bagging the club in the media and elsewhere.

Leaders need to roll up their sleeves and work hard when the going gets tough. We don't need division and people who would throw us publicly under the bus because they have personal axes to grind.

I say well done to Don and go Dees tomorrow night and throughout 2013 and beyond.

In regards to all things MFC/Tanking, the jokedetector has been getting a bit of a hammering of late, so may not be functioning as well as it might in calmer times. I don't know when I've seen so many "this can't be serious" posts that are.

Perhaps a compulsory read of Jim Stynes 'My Jouney' might enlighten the uninformed as to the calibre of this individual!

This is humour?

Well Satyriconathome, I would say it is more satire than humour and it is all relative as to how successful it is... particularly if you compare it to postings on the issue by the likes of Range Rover, Dr Who (more so on Demonology) and to a "lesser" extent, Ben Hur and others here, then perhaps it isn't up there with the best (but the seriousness of their posts precludes them)... but I see absolutely nothing wrong with a little levity in the face of what have obviously trying times for the club.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
