Long Live the Judean People's Front!

BH mightn't like me saying it but the old revolutionaries were much better at splinter groups, and splinters of splinters ... they could almost manage to arrive at a group of one.

On the subject of groupthink, I was listening to SEN on Friday morning when a listener rang KB to complain about Garry Lyon allegedly "bullying" Kero on Footy Classified the night before.

Not sure if this is PC but why is tough questioning called "bullying" when it's addressed by a male to a female (in this case, Garry was responding to her attack on his credibility)? Isn't what Kero is doing when she constantly attacks our club and calls for the dismissal of our employees during an investigation "bullying" too?

Why is it accepted that Kero is allowed to dish it out using anonymous sources as justification to attack people's livelihoods but "bullying" when you respond in kind?

If she'd dressed Garry down it would have been asserting herself; that's the difference.

Haven't you noticed the double standards?

If you are 'not sure if this is PC', it's probably not PC.

Well, what he said was perfectly PC so I guess that disproves your rule.

There is only one rule I know is true: The Exception Rule.

There is an exception to every rule, except The Exception Rule. This is the exception to The Exception Rule, proving the rule.

Why are you guys assuming the comments of some random SEN caller have any significance with respect to defining what is bullying and any sexist overtones?

That may be so, and Wilson's indulging in those irrelevancies only highlights how urgently we need the official results because another round of arguing about whether Carlton or anyone else tanked would be beyond the pale. But the question Sue is raising is, basically: where is BH?

Attempting to recruit Grapeviney to his Group Against Groupthink (the acronym GAG functions as both noun and verb in this case) necessitates ignoring the fact that Grapeviney's position (post #190) supposes that we're putting forward arguments (which would include the "Carlton tanked too" line) to the AFL that BH has excoriated in the past.

I suspect that since Grapeviney's rhetorical questions look aggressive and sarcastic enough to promise another triumph over "groupthink," BH has mistaken him for a fellow traveller when, as Sue points out, he was actually saying something else.

I haven't read this thread for days, but lo and behold after a quick scan I notice my initials. And here's my new old buddy endeavouring to psychoanalyse a quick aside I made to another poster. After another of your recent offerings I'd be more concerned by your own fragile state of mind than attempting to engage in petty one-upmanship.

Many of you hardly post during the actual season. It can't come quickly enough for me.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
