Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The tragic downfall of Liam Jurrah

The more you post the further you dig, anyone thats a racist like yourself should be banned from this forum.

If the moderators want to ban me for showing you up as an ignorant middle class white boy then so be it

That doesn't narrow the field much.

So any one who disagrees with you fits in to that category do they?

a little

I don't argue much on this forum except when people bang on about Liam needing the full weight of the law to fall on his head or other beauties such as good riddance to him. It annoys me that such dimwits our on this site. The smart folks are now calling me racist. .I actually find that level of stupidity quite amusing.

I wonder if his tattoo has a spelling error and that's why he's annoyed,

I don't know if he has tattoos and I'm not a fan of is posting, but your continued racist remarks certainly don't elevate you above him.

The law will deal with Liam Jurrah one way or the other; neither you nor I know the full details of the case so neither of us should comment. I won't but I'm not going to call anyone a middle class white boy; that is racist and no better than the person you are arguing with.

Yes I did see that it had todays date ...???? strange!

How do you figure, i dont care what colour people are, read the thread, theres only one person that has a problem with colour.

No you just expect everyone to make nice little lives for themselves In their ticky tacky houses and can't fathom how or why Jurrah left the MFC or why he was involved in the problems he's been involved in. I'll tell you why. It's because every individual is different and is surrounded by different circumstances. You clearly know nothing of the plight of these communities you think should just get on with things like everyone else. I'm generalising when I call you a middle class white boy not being racist. I can generalise because I can tell by the tone of your posts that I'm pretty spot on with my opinion of you. You're not that smart but think you are. You have a simplistic view of the world gained from a high school education and a seat on a comfy but cheap couch with a gameboy.

I hope Liam gets a fair trial. He has a right to that.

I have been critical of other parts of his "stardom"

There is no doubt he has been used by others to a degree.

But a fair trial is a right.

Yes his minders had it all mapped out didn't they?

The 'Liam Jurrah Story' was sure to be followed by ...

Liam Jurrah Action Figurines

Nike Air Jurrah Footy Boots

Liam Jurah Tours To The Top End ©

The Liam Jurrah Sportsman's Night Extravaganza

101 Yarns From Yuendumu by Liam Jurrah

Warlipiri Wizard - The Board Game ©

... and so on

It had all begun to take on that kind of tone, hadn't it. Shame for them he was so tragically ... human.

Looks like Demonland favorite Liam Jurrah not only hits blokes with machette's - but also clubs women.

At least we know what he does in his spare time, when he isn't drink driving.

Go back to your knitting.

So this might be lost on you but in court there is a prosecution side and a defence side. The prosecution side tells their story and then the defence tests it.

And then vice versa.

This is the prosecutions version of events. It will all be rebuffed once the defence has their go.

Way to go off half cocked dimwit.

Yes sorry Jack, I was referring to the first part of your post. Simply suggesting the Alice Springs News as a good, balanced news source.

Notable is the description of the jury as being mostly white. The people of Alice Springs, black and white, are sick of the drug fuelled violence in town and want to put a stop to it. Further to this however is the frustration with the apparent leniency when it comes to sentencing. There is a lot of sympathy with the Police at the moment who are doing all they can only to have judges (seemingly in locals eyes) letting those prosecuted off lightly. The local jail is overflowing with a obviously high number of indigenous prisoners and the situation in Yuendumu would appear to have no end in sight (For those of you that care, while the recent chapter of this story goes back to a terrible death a few years ago, for the groups/families involved, the origins of this feud goes back decades). What this means for Liam, I'm not sure, but there are plenty of people involved in this case, who want him to be made an example of.

I hope the judge and jury aren't minded that way because that's not how the legal system should work. Liam Jurrah's on trial for allegedly committing a violent crime. The role of the court is to determine whether or not he's guilty as charged. If he's found guilty then some of the considerations you've mentioned might come into play on the matter of sentencing but in the first instance, it should all be about determining the facts and not about the issues that affect the communities of Yuendumu and Alice Springs, as dire as they might be.

It seems there's hardly a thread in Demonland history (since I've been a member at least) that when the topic is about an indigenous player, hasn't descended into racist accusations by a variety of posters. I've been a victim myself.

I wish the moderators would be more proactive and hit this rot on the head before it gets out of hand.

Getting back to the actual topic a little (sorry if that upsets people), I would like to say how proud I am if the club that we are still in there backing Liam even after he walked out on the us. We still have player welfare people up there at the trial and presumably are still footing much of the legal bills. I think that this is a great show if integrity and fair-mindedness.

Black, white, yellow, pink or purple, It doesn't matter what colour or race the person is.

I will not sit here and support Demonlands favorite son (Jurrah) for clubbing women, driving around trashed and belting blokes over the head with Machetties.

Go take your race card else where you big sook.

Why not go for the trifecta? A third attempt at the plural of "machete"?

Whilst Im sure Liam's circumstances are different to the majority of us. What choices did Liam have the night in which he's accused of using the Machete? Was he obliged as a tribal warrior to issue justice under 'aboriginal law' or were the actions he took due to being under the influence? I don't know all the facts so I won't pass judgement. As an outsider it does appear Liam's troubles are related in many ways to his abuse of alcohol & not just his life circumstance.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
