Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I hold no bitterness about Liam. A lot of underlying issues that we wouldnt understand and like some I'm willing to be a bigger man and move on.

All I can say is what a shame.

Won't help his current case, will have a criminal record, won't play another game of AFL and with his current attitude won't go far in VFL.

The world was in his hands and he threw it all away.

Wel there is one bright spot in this.

He is no longer a Melbourne player.

You beat my by 15 minutes Bbo.

Whats the bet tomorrows headline is

"Former Melbourne Player .............

He won't play another AFL game, and he didn't play for anyone after us, so it will always be "former Demon" or "former tanker", maybe even "former friend of Cameron Schwab..."

Well, I think we can safely say that the only club that will touch him now is Collingwood.

i was thinking gws too, sheedy would love the theatre of the challenge and the opportunity to stick it to us

but the afl would never let its love-spawn do it

So sad when people lose control of their lives. A few years ago LJ was one of football's feel good stories; how much has that changed.

As for the rubbish being written in this post. Condemn the act but please lets have some compassion for the person. Is Liam dealing with the difficulties in his life badly? No doubt. But few of us can comprehend the extent of the challenges he has faced and many would struggle cope just as much.

It's never too late to turn it around Liam. All the best.

I fail to see why someone not being able to speak english, nor seen a beach, nor being from "bum f#$K" means they're going to drink and drive? Plenty of beach going, english speaking, city folk have done the same thing...

We could say we were lucky that he reserved his majic moments for us. A shooting star if there ever was. No one quite like him before and perhaps never after. Was like a wet dream that could never come true. And we are the eternal dreamers.

Thank you Wise. I was wondering if anyone would behave like a fully functioning member of the human race during this thread and you have.

Crap like this is one reason why I go on the 'Land sometimes and shake my head. The amount of vitriol that is thrown about here is amazing. This is a situation with no winners and it seems some people are more than happy to dance on the grave of a desperate and troubled young man. Walk a mile in his shoes before you start running off at the mouth. The act was irresponsible but keep in mind what that community is going through before you belch out your digital diarrhea.

This might sound strange, but I really feel for the guy. He's the first player from his civilization, which is borderline ancient, to play AFL and he's tried to combine two alien worlds. He was lauded as a tribal leader on "men's business", but at the same time was beholden to his own tribal laws (moreso), which in part is why he's in the mess he's in, as laws such as payback for an initiated man mean much more than our "modern laws" and civil expectations. It's impossible to judge Jurrah from the cornerstone of the lives we lead.

It's too complex for me, but I feel compelled not to judge a guy whose world has caved in around him. And as much as most will lay the blame at his feet, he's in unusual circumstances and much of it has been out of his control. I expect arguments on the last sentence and I'm usually the first to state that every man is the architect of his own destiny, but I readily accept that Jurrah's circumstances can't be understood by 99% of those reading this forum.

Ben Hur has learnt compassion and empathy.

I agree entirely .

It's his choice to leave the Club

It's his life to p!ss up if he chooses .

Still sad to watch but at least he showed some magic that we may never have seen if we didn't give him a go.

Nobody died so its not yet a tragedy .

He didn't kill anyone either.

Yet.

Bollocks. Is he a man or a child? Is he responsible for his own actions or not? And how do the problems in his community absolve him from obeying the law or even maybe just having a bit of decency about how he left the club?

Oh he had us fooled well and good. All this noble warrior persona and how he was on a mission for the tribe and stuff like that turned out to be so much rubbish. He's just another selfish empty head with a drinking problem who has wasted the only talent they were given. I don't see why we shouldn't call it for exactly what it is.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
