Haha. He got towelled up by Stiffy Johncock. He gets to stand on players like Sunny Walters. It's embarrassing.

He has enormous talent, but I have no respect for what he's got out of his first 4 years, or how he goes about his footy.

Forgetting about Jacks" football ability for a moment, it is a fair test of his character having to endure years of unfavourable media scrutiny, derision from opposition supporters, satirical websites being made about him and even his own supporters regularly having a go.

He has carried himself well in public and has improved steadily on the field. He needed to improve his tank and has done so, his marking has improved and there is no better field kick at Melbourne

He will continue to improve and build. The game is favouring taller, faster and fitter players and as players like Goodes and O'keefe have revolutionised their positions I believe Jack will do so as well.

Patton has played all of 7 games. There's his "excuse" right there.

Watts is at 55 and counting .... we continue to wait .... and wait.

Comparing Watts to Patton is ridiculous because untill he plays 50 games you cant compare.

Look more at Hawkins,or a Goddard, who also were not that great in their frst 50 games.

I think he will be better than both of those by the way.

Hodge and Ball were always compared to Judd, but its all relative, and you cant really judge untill theyve played 100 games or so, again look at Jones who gets better every year.

If Watts had been pick 12 would he get this much angst?

I doubt it.

Cook has had a 100th of the comment and he never looked like playing a game.

I have and it is about time that a lot of Dees fans got used to the idea that Watts will not be the gaming breaking CHF we all hope

when he was drafted.

I now believe we have potentially a good player who could be the best backman we have on the list.

He has the potential to play another 150 games for the MFC

Not a bad result IMO

Cook is not as talented and it wouldn't matter what pick Watts was. He is a football talent that needs to keep his eye on the footy at crunch times, simple as that.

I think most supporters realised that a couple of years ago. Where are you reading that anyone that still harbours that ambition ?

You're right about the scrutiny being far different if he was pick 12. He wasn't. He was a wasted pick 1. If he was pick 12 he'd just be a disappointing pick 12.

I agree re the pressures of being a #1 draft pick. But I cant help but feel that Watts hasnt had the best start, changing coaches, original position on the wing but now in the back, and body building issues like all new drafts.

I dont think we have seen the best of him and I hope this season we will be pleasantly surprised by his improvement and leadership.... I really hope

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
