If you're counting Toumpas, add Taggert to your list. And Strauss (based on U18 from, like Toumpas).

With Straussy's kicking ability and run, id love to see him tried at half forward wing, where he can use the ball, and pinpoint passes to our forwards.

So with Davey washed up, Clark not a mid, Dunn is a good field kick????, Strauss cusp best 22 (though hopefully making steps). I think we can agree we need better kicks.

Getting back to training. It seems the club is focusing on repeat runs/sprints this pre-season. I hope Mission is working on our speed now that a base (endurance) has been acheived by the players completing a lengthy training period that included players training hard throughout the 2012 season.

I went to one training session last season and the focus seemed to be endurance only. BH can you confirm this as you have been to alot of sessions?

He may well be an "elite kick" but he will need to get more of it pretty early in 2013 as there are others competing for his spot. But, yes, if he can get the pill then wing may not be a bad option, depending of course on who else is available.

You mean except for his 83% disposal efficiency, the highest in the team, both this year and last year?

I would say anything over 80% in regards to disposal efficiency is in the elite category.

The issue of skills when exhausted was raised earlier in this thread. Let's put a perspective on the whole skills issue.

First, get the skills perfect.

Second, get the skills perfect under pressure.

Third, get the skills perfect under pressure and when exhausted.

Why this order - because in most cases if the skills are perfect in the first place, the other two cases won't occur!

Also interesting to note the comments on endurance running - OK, but just remember that most football running is sprint followed by sprint etc, as I think someone pointed out.

No, these are not negative comments, just something to think about - I'm guessing Shannon Byrnes knows a bit about this area.

They've been doing a lot of repeat sprints, but they did that last year too.

I'm not qualified to know if there's a discernible difference between this year and last. I suspect there's not, but they're just doing everything better - guessing.
