Oh well. I wasn't much of a fan to be brutally honest.

I could put up with the meaningless panel discussion, but the way they treated the racism allegations was the final nail in the coffin for me.

I think TFS drinks it's own bathwater a bit at times.

I don't think you could accuse the Marngrook boys (and girl) of having inflated egos.

There's another 20 hours of work a week i don't get.

Thanks ABC.

Thats bad luck WYL.....It was a classic show, sure it was a lotta fun doing it.

To be honest, wasn't really much of a fan. I tried it as an alternative over TFS but both were pretty lame.

Ratings would suggest otherwise.

TFS is still doing well in terms of numbers. It actually amuses me the amount of people that hate the footy show and continue to bag it, but seem to know what hapopens every week on the show...

Need something culinary in it to get a gig these days.

Maybe Marngrook should have had a cooking segment ...

Hopefully will be given another home somewhere else, perhaps SBS or back to NITV. I didn't really watch it that much, there's so many other shows on at that time that are similar, but I mate of mine worked on it so it's a shame to hear it given the axe.

If you feel strongly about ABC canning the show, and a friend of mine does, so he has created a petition asking the ABC to reconsider.

Sign the petition.

Sign it or ignore it or pass it on, or you can contact your ABC http://www.abc.net.a.../contactabc.htm and let them know what you think.

Even if you don't like footy, this transcends football, it's about good television programming, giving an important section of our community the opportunity to showcase their talents.

Sucks big time! Very bad call! Basic format yes but what else do we want from a Thursday night Footy Show? Always a quirky knowledgable unbiased panel. Perhaps more pie throwing and ice cold buckets of water falling from the sky may have saved it?

To suggest that something is relevant because it gets high ratings on the teevee is to suggest that unpopular things are only unpopular because they're not relevant, which is clearly not true. Popularity is not a metric by which importance should be measured.

It still wouldn't suprise me if the ABC is not forced into a rethink on Marngrook.

The backlash has been huge.

But the decision did come from sydney so we wait.

I agree. It's a show that grows on you and it needed another year .

Unlike The Footy Show which grows on you like a wart that should have been removed years ago .

the trouble the ABC has is that it does not own the show. The production house that does own the show wish the show to be produced in a certain way. Using 2 crane Cameras and 5 standard studio Cameras. The Cranes are very expensive to use.

This is the sticking point so far.

Sort it out please WYL .I've paid my 8 cents for 2012/13.

You can do it .

Surely if their facing the axe they would re-think the use of two cranes (a bit much for the size of the show IMO), especially if the next option is to drop back to being a community show being made made out of RMIT.

you would think so. But at this stage the production company are adamant that the cranes stay.

Stay tuned.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
