Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

You know I've actually thought it would be cathartic to abuse Carowhine, regardless of the fact it's a fake account. It does appear most of the Collingwood supporters think it's real though.

What was really offensive and distasteful was her reference to John McCarthy's death at an end of season bender in Vegas.

How distressing for his family to read this, especially if no toxicology report has come back yet. Is she guessing? Is it a rumour? If either she should hand in her 'journo badge' or be sacked. Even if fact a tox report is confidential. How dare she take it upon herself to 'release' this.

Even if not guessing, she has stooped to a new low. No respect shown.

Good call.

The toxicology report is / was done, but the results not released. Even if she does know what was in it, it was unnecessary to bring JM into it - it added nothing to the story.

878 words and she couldn't find room for a single sentence about Dustin Martin, but had no qualms slurring the recently-deceased McCarthy by implication.

Poor form.

She is more than a joke, she is an bloody disgrace and drags the 'profession' of journalism (of which she tries to claim she is a member) deeper into the cesspit created by News of the World.

Bitter, miserable, biased - no saving graces whatsoever.

Mark Fine got stuck into Wilson big time tonight. Agree with his views...

I've probably said this before but when I first heard Mark Fine I was wondering why they let this yob on the radio but I persisted with him and find him a breath of fresh air, he has a touch of the common man about him and you've just gotta love it when he pays out on some dh on the final siren...so long as it's not you.

yes he is a pretty level headed guy i think.

Tonight he basically said all that has been stated in here over the last 24 hours.

Wilson has no care for who she pots. Its all about the story.

Will be interesting to follow how all this rolls.

MarkFine also got into Wilson and other jouno's who were making up stories about Melbourne's 'tanking', there all saying how the book should be thrown at Melbourne but Finey and Patrick Smith said nothing should be done. They say if it's true then it's the AFL's fault for putting in those stupid rules

Yes Clint Wilson can take pride in the knowledge that she makes up the story before the opposition. I's all about filling column space and the truth, facts and ethics can take a back seat. Compare Wilson's injective to that of Emma Quayle's excellent piece on the crows. Where Carowhine would resort to unsupported accusation and innuendo Qualye simply reported established facts and maintained on objective standpoint throughout her article's, never being arrogant enough to sit in judgement. Kero must be looking over her shoulder at young Emma with considerable anxiety.

Signs showing of CW insecurity re the talented Emma!

CW quotes 'fairfax' when referring to EQ stories but in today's Age EQ not only quotes The Age she also credits CW with the Tippett story 2 years ago. Very generous given that when EQ broke the Crows breaches 6 weeks ago CW took over the running without a single reference to her erstwhile colleague. Reading between the lines suggests that CW 'pulls rank' on Emma in various ways!

Emma is all class!

Bit of personal bias here, but the Herald Sun's recent announcement that Mark Robinson has been appointed as their Chief Football scribe puts The Age's efforts into perspective. Basically, Robinson's work makes Caroline look like a three time winner of the Nobel prize for literature.

(Keep in mind that the Nobel prize is often awarded for works of fiction).

Edit: Added last line

Does anyone know EQ? I'd love to know her opinion on CW.

Interesting that not a sniff from the' peddlar of all things dirty' in today's paper.

Just a sneakky little piece headed " Magpies keen to work with clubs, AFL to fight drugs" by a couple of no-names. The article included a picture of yesterday's Swan article implying somehow that Collingwood had picked up on CW's expose - when it fact it was Pert who first raised the broad question days ago. At the foot of the article Buckley's tweet was noted under the McGuire statement that Collingwood wasn't going into a blame game.

If you've broken a winning story, you keep running with it.Three times in a row now she's lead with her chin - and then shut up ! First the "pathetic and disgusting" - then the " demote Sam Fisher" and now the "sack Swan"

Must be close to full membership of the fiction writers' guild now Caro.

she may have used all her information in the first articles and now her sources have closed ranks on club orders.

The story is out there. Not that she broke it.

Gary Pert lit the match & i have no doubt he is very worried.

Young boys with wads of $$$=sleepless nights. I just don't like the way she wrote yesterdays stories with no regard for players or familes involved.

Maybe someone should write some double spreads on CW's life after hours...or even during hours having worked with some journo's over the years....:)

Level Headed? Finey? I find him very entertaining, and tend to agree with his take on most things, but level headed he ain't

My favourite Finey-ism when unloading on a caller/sms-er was [paraphrased]: 'you're the kind of person who will never manage to amass enough money to own a lawn mower outright'

he was probably right though..some of the sms traffic in there would be rather neanderthal i think!

Finey is honest on air. What he thinks he says.

Sad that he covets the Aints but his bloodlines and melways map reference dictated most of that...

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
