Can't be. When did he leave and then return?

My interpretation of the question. He left us and returned. He didn't play for us in 2006, due to injury, so effectively he left and returned to play in 2007.

Just to be clear, are we allowed to google things and research players from the good old days. I have tried not too especially with the first clue or two but I have too now, is everyone else doing the same?

smithy's got his own intranet. its between his ears :)

I did think of that too stingrays. But he was always with the club. In effect, didn't leave the club ("left theclub"). Only injured and played with Sandringham and very nearly earned a recall late 2006.

Yeah, I know, but Deevoted is pretty sneaky. I may not be right anyway.

Yes...that he is stringrays. He's deevoted to being sneaky. Reading up on Bizzell post footy is interesting btw. Lucky devil...

I'll clear up any confusion, as this is a tough. This player left, as in departed the club. Terminated his ties etc etc etc he was no longer a MFC player.

For reasons unknown to me, he decided to come back to the club. Nothing sneaky, just stating the facts as I read it.

I noticed it was down, as I wanted to check a query on a clue a few quizzes back.

If you google a player, select CACHE then select 'text version' to display, in most cases the data has been held, in the cache. Hope that helps you.

It worked for me.

Use any source available to you. you could try bribing WJ or Smithy, I think between the both of them they wrote ALL the data on anything related to the MFC. Jack grew up with Wills & Harrison. And helped with the writing the laws of the game, Well thats the rumour, being humble I doubt he will admit to it. A last resort ring Smithys home, when he isnt there, his wife can help you with some info. I found that out the hard way. She blew a clue that I wasnt aware of. I still dont know if a wandflower is a weed, or should be propagated. :)

I have been following the club since 1952 and have accumulated many books footy records and season guides etc.

I refer to these frequently as memory does fade post the golden years ^_^

Not sure if google is in the spirit of the quiz however I am betting that many use it so I suggest you go for it.

If not for any other reason than to broaden your knowledge about this great club we follow.

No joshing.

I didn't think it was in the spirit I haven't googled untill this one and I'm no closer. I've only followed Melbourne since 2000 so I'm a pup.

Whats the difference between resourcing via books ...or the net. You still have to have some Idea of what you're on about.

Schools are REPLACING Books with pads. It's just a research tool.

Even with Interpols help I doubt I could prevent anyone googling etc. I did try to crash google at one stage,if you read back heaps of pages back it looks like I had some success when WJ was at the airport (Coolangatta?), but I was a bit too late to stop him posting his guess. IIRC it was the wrong guess anyway. (just kidding)

Some fascinating discussions going on. Working as a team may unravel it. I just checked the 3rd clue,it doesnt give much away other than its another clue. None correct so far.

Mrs Smith might not be so keen to offer assistance from now on. I visage the house being torn to pieces, books and the like being thrown everywhere, searching for the answer on this one.

3rd clue about Midday tomorrow I hope Josh is enjoying the history lesson.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
