Simple yes or no...should we keep 1 or more of these MFC contracted players.

Edit: Any trade would involve club and player to agree on terms. This poll is about wheather we stick with these guys or offload them for something we need.

Keep Gys, he had a rough year. He should bounce back and has potential

Keep Morton just because we wont get anything for him. He can help our Casey team win a premiership haha

Trade Martin, while he has value

I think you'll find keeping gysberts will either make or break him. Last pre season he was running with Blease. Blease over the season improved and bought in. I know Gys had injury issues, but the fact that he didn't play seniors made me assume he hadn't bought in to the program.

With another year, I reckon he's going to have to realise he's going to have to buy in this year otherwise he may no longer be in the AFL next year. Once he does this I reckon his upside will be huge and we'll have a damn good player on our hands.

Surely it all depends on what value we can get for them, and given that all three have live contracts (I think), whether they are prepared to be traded. Personally I'm not fussed either way, but perhaps Gysberts may warrant another year more than the other two, in the hope that he can have a bit more luck injury-wise, and get the other parts of his act together.

All down to what you can get. Trade any and all is fine by me

The structure of this poll is flawed because it suggests that we should just trade these players regardless of what is on offer - that's why I voted 'no' on all 3.

Although if the question had the option of should we use as trade bait, then I would have answered 'yes' to all except Gysberts.

Don't just trade for no reason. These are all contracted players, which have all shown promising moments of talent in the past and should not be just disregarded for the sake of it.

Yeah, depends on what is coming back.

I would like to keep Martin but I know that he has value in the market - the other two don't.

I want a ready made mid, Martin can get that.

The other two cannot.

Agree with this, although I would only want to trade Morton but what is the point as he has little trade value

If we trade Gys we would not get a lot and it may well come back to haunt us

I want to keep Martin, particularly after the rule changes but he is the only one of the 3 with value

even with a suitable trade the player has to agree. So many factors and variables.

Keep Martin as insurance. don't want to beat up Clarlke and Dawes in the Ruck. Martin and Gawn will be very handy as support for Jamar. Defensive stocks look good with Jamar pushing b ack in 2013

I would be shocked at the almost unanimous verdict to keep Gysberts if the Morton vote wasn't split 50 / 50.

Because we need to retain a swag of woulda, coulda, shoulda's at our club so the status quo of too-soft-to-admit-fault Melbourne supporters remain.

Go on, then - dish me up your "perfectly valid" excuses for their failings.

Sorry thaipantsman but Jamar doesn't have a defensive bone in his body. Couldn't see him doing anything useful down back as he is pretty damn slow and not nearly athletic enough to be able to run with an opposition kpf.

I've seen him take some timely grabs down back though Pass!

I think Morton and Martin should be moved on. It's not that I don't like them (even Morton), but that I think they would both benefit from a new club and a new environment. In Martins case I just have a feeling that he's gone as far as he can with this group, while obviously Morton has had a disastrous few years and is in desperate need of a fresh start.

Gys had a shocking year and there have been persistent rumours (often on these forums) that he is not taking well to the new style of coaching, but I think he is a massive talent and probably worth persisting with to see if he can get his issues sorted out and cement a spot in the side.

If you look at our 2012 list you see that its prettymuch devoid of a lot of natural leadership or something similar that I cant quite put my name on. Martin has done some good things for the club - although tends to see surprsied when he does - but i think he just has a lack of something that a lot of players on our list lack that I cant quite name - just a presence or maybe confidence. Dunno. But I think pederson is the way to go and with him and Dawes in the side Id think that Martin and Sellar might not have much room left.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
