Funny that the Best First Year Player became Best Young Player in the year where we only had three 'first year' candidates and two of them played five games between them!

Clark, magner, couch, tynan - makes 4, the first 2 went ok.....

And you write blogs on Facebook fans. Let the cynicism reign here.

It would be ridiculous to count Clark as a first year player. Not really in the spirit of the award.

Well done to Rivers. Coming 5th while spending half the season in a foreign role in a dead zone where the ball barely appears once a quarter.

Very much hopes he stays, but if he leaves, this will help his FA value.

Players from other clubs aren't counted.

Interesting time to change it to include non-first year players for the first time since the award began in 1947! Well deserved honour (especially considering his B&F finish) but come on..

And well done to Jonesy.

A most deserving winner. Thanks for being one of the only things that stopped me from shooting myself in the eyes this year.

(Mitch Clark will win by 100,000 votes next season if he gets through 22 games without breaking his head/neck/leg/arm/face).

Now [censored] right off season 2012. You are officially dead to me!

Congrats to Jones. Standout player all year. It looks like from the twitter picture he is wearing the famous blazer. Are all the players wearing them or just Jones because he won it.

Surprised Jordie came 4th. But rapt for Grimes who put in a full season and what a whole season can do for him.

Well done Jonesy, well deserved. And has anyone talked to Riv to get some sort of answer?

Jonesy not only excels at football but also at singing! He leads the room in a great rendition of the team song.

Haha good on him, with Jones, Clark, and Gawn around the club, we do have a few characters.

Where did Howe come and did anyone speak to Moloney and what mood was he in?

Did Neeld give one of his speeches that pumps you right up and did Don speak?

Just wondering was Jim's named mentioned in any speeches at all?

The biggest surprise for me was the closeness of the margin between Jones and Grimes...I would have thought here would be daylight between Jones and the runner up.

Jones says "the tone is pretty damn clear. Either buy in or buy out. Make sure you guys are a part of it."

Wonder who he is referring to. I thought someone would make a statement like that.

I just got home and I left immediately.

I live 20 minutes from Crown on a bad night so you were obviously in the cheap seats.

Food was shiitty booze was plentiful.

But info about the club lacked substance.

The only positive I gained from it was Rivers speech in my opinion was a farewell speech.

Read into that as you wish.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
