Having just stayed in a bunch of hotels in Asia, i often thought the height of this Balcony wall is too short.

I am a short person, so for anyone else it is even moreso.

Poor Bugger. Hope it was quick.

I think all comments about player involved should be removed until confirmed.

They have been.

Please respect the fact that the player can not be named until family is informed of the tragedy.

It is a sad and unneccesary death. I hope the circumstances were innocent.

The minimum height for balcony rails here is 1 metre, unfotunately most designers and Architects work to the minimum height. I always thought it should relate to the risk?

I metre. That is absurd. That would be a knee cap for most AFL players.

I had one hotel in Bangkok i was on the 19th floor. The Balcony was too short, particularly if wet underfoot...slide....

I'm sure the family is informed it happened 20 hours ago, it's now widely understood [removed] is sadly the person involved as reported by MMM and SEN.

If I can put up with the magnitude of rubbish topics around here, surely when something actually happens to someone we can speak about it!?

Puts things in perspective, we carry on like the world is at an end with how our club is going and this poor bloke has had his life cut short too soon.

Very sad.

Agree totally Pates. After the initial shock, I immediately thought of Broady, and then how close a couple of our guys came to a similar fate in Bali. So sad for family, friends and the entire football community.

It doesn't matter. Until Port Adelaide reveal the name through an official statement, we won't reveal it on here. It's called respect and courtesy.

Shocking news -- brings back the Troy Broadbridge tragedy, and Bali bombing.

Terrible terrible news not just for PAFC but the entire football community. Thoughts are with the players family friends and teammates. RIP

What a shocker-Three days after the anniversary of my mate who drowned in Sri Lanka.

You really have to be careful even when partying .

Hope the guy doesn't have kids .Tragic.

I know a member of the family who has been notified, I understand not all have been notified. Such shattering news for a lovely family.

I can also confirm that all of the family has been notified except one member who is not in Australia. Still, should wait until the club announces officially.

Did you go on that Cricket trip to Sri Lanka?

Nearly went. He played for Sacred Heart because he had been banned from our club for various reasons .I worked with him and knew him for 20 years.

Evo and is bro organised the trip. Evos bro was the guy that retrieved his body from the surf .

I didn't think there were balconies on Vegas accommodation? I know their foot bridges had very high barriers, for the same reason as no balconies - to stop people doing the jump.

Regardless, very tragic news.

I stayed at the Flamingo last year and I'm pretty sure there were no balconies.

There were none in my room anyway.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
