Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

With the recent departure of Moloney it raises a question in my mind. How are we going to attract new players to the club? We've made a play for Boak, don't know how it's holding up. Some of us would like to see Josh Caddy in the Red and Blue in 2013 as well. But 2012 was a really poor year. What would make a player join a club that, if not for GWS and GCS, probably would've only had 1 win for the year?

Money isn't much of a problem as we have a fair amount of room in our salary cap. Can we still convince others that we are heading in the right direction? Or will they see the departure of Moloney as a steer clear sign?

What do we have to do to put ourselves above other clubs in preparation for and during the trading period to lure players to this great and proud club?

Money obviously plays an important role, but most players need another incentive especially when there are other clubs willing to pay the same price, what else is there that we can use?

The pre-match bugler?

Yep! Maybe we could get also make all players wear a similar green/red/blue combo corduroy jacket in the warm up! That's the spirit chaps! Tally ho & all that!

Clark bought Neeld's sales pitch, hopefully he can convince others as well. As stated above, money talks pretty well also.

Excellent points Romey!

Moloney is most likely gone testing his luck with the free agency while given Melbourne's blessings. Worth noting Moloney is no Dud. Polled 19 brown low votes in a poor side in 2011. LJ is gone and was arguably our most exciting player. These types of Guys don't grow on trees contrary to the posts bandied about.

Yes what indeed is enticing at Melbourne right now apart from Mitch Clark?

Many are tempted to cringe at the downside, the recent batterings, the bad press and all of that. Yet , how many teams have the potential upside we have.

Weve got the people, we've got the resources ( now ) weve got a no nonsense coach whos going to demand the best of you ( potential incomer)

Heres a team where you WILL get the chance to spread your wings should you have the ability and ambition.

We're a very proud club thats been hurting, but we're coming back. Those who jumnp on are in for one hell of a ride. Fortune faviours the brave.

No wimps need apply !!

We have heaps of cash to throw around. That's how.

Lets just say money talks. If they land Boak (based on cash), MFC and Port will probably sort our Boak and Jurrah as a trade.

Not when it involves MFC.

Why would Port have to trade for Jurrah? They dont have to. Jurrah would be heavily discounted value at best.....High maintenance, fickle with poor engine for AFL and other stuff......

The ability to concentrate on your goal-kicking in front of a small, quiet crowd.

Very good.

Given we are coming off such a low base the improvement could be significant and still end up below Richmond or 12th next year. Gillard's re election committee would be using similar tactics to yours.

Those who jumnp on are in for one hell of a ride.

Indeed. Parachuting without using one!

It is an extremely good question wish I knew the answer.

It may be the biggest problem we face in the off season.

The only reason I can see this year is money

We will have to grease palms.

There is no other reason that I can see.

Why would you come to the MFC if you were looking at a new home.

Us and the Dogs would appear to have the plague.

Crap list and little hope of playing finals for at least 4 years.

If I were a potential recruit the two newbies would look attractive compared to the Dees.

Both have a good crop of juniors add some good seasoned older bodies players ( that we want ) and they will pass the MFC in the next two years.

Yes the more I think of it we have to pay over the odds.

It is the only way.

And thats still an improvement....and the start of a climb.

Im not trying to kid anyone. You certainly couldnt kid anyone that you would want to come to the Dees. It is going to be all out in the open. We do have enormous potential. yes 'potential' can be a rubbery science at best but for those that savour a challenge then we're the place for you :)

The attraction of Neeld,Craig,Rawlings and brown plus cash would make me want to be a dee.

HA HA good one.

Cash eh? A minute ago everyone was talking "buy in" "elite professionalism" now suddenly you all want mercenaries.

For the record could you tell me what is so fantastic about playing under Neeld?

Craig...you have to be kidding..ony robots need apply

Rawlings seems ok I guess but out of interest why is he such a draw card in your mind?

Of course that assumes they all want to stay on board

Now stop that OD and put down the knife.....

It is going to be all out in the open.

I would be wondering what they are tilting with....

Seriously, its hard a shine a proverbial whatever. I think we have to pay over the odds for a key player hope for some improvement in 2013.....then go hard with the bvllsh!t.

At best we should be circumspect on where we are.....

It takes cash to get a player here (Mitch) and a good footy department or at least selling the fact that we have a good FD. With Neeld's hard ass approach it would appeal to the elite minded players. The easy going footy player may not be such a fan. I'm not saying everyone would love to be a dee but it could be worse they could be a power or a bulldog.

I saw Robert Murphy give a impressively genuine "I'm never going anywhere else" answer on 360 tonight.

Find me one Demon who could sound so honest.

I cant see why anyone would want to come to MFC myself but no doubt if the deal was ok or two clubs had done a deal,or the talk around the traps with other fotballers was that The Demons under Neeld was the place to be then ,...........

Of course that would require that MFC had players they wanted to get rid of and that other clubs wanted them and....................

that the talk amongst footballers was that training on a windswept oval next to Punt Road and sharing digs with NRL bogans, losing most every game (except against the Dons )and being abused by a school teacher was the way to go forward while collecting a few extra bucks (because Tom Scully deals aside) thats all it would be.

Get real its going to be much harder this year than it was last year.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
