Neeld just confirmed Cloke will not be at the Dee's next year.

Spoken about media scrutiny, the fact that he doesn't see all of it (though it seems like he is pretty aware of what is said) and the unreliability of a lot of it. Praised Clarks attitude and positive effect on the squad. Hinted at experience and roles influencing the way we go about free agency and improving the list at that time. Said he wasn't comfortable talking about Cloke and said 'There hasn't been an offer from the MFC and he's not coming here'. Explained that experience is not just 40 games into a player but 40 good games etc. Something about other coaches but didn't quite catch that!

Hope that Landers get a hold of this interview to watch. The key message is that our list requires two seasons to develop but it has to be done the right way.

Of course, that will be lost in the headline that Cloke is not coming to Melbourne.

Also said that they would be looking at experienced players if they perfectly fit what they were after and it would take a fair bit to relinquish the draft picks we have.

As expected....nothing new here.

Apart from categorically saying that we were not looking at TC. Unless I've missed something!

No offer to Cloke - not coming here...straight from the horse's mouth.

Trade month & draft day will be busy.

If it aint Cloke is it Goddard??

We have the war chest.....

Goddard will go to Fremantle if he leaves St. Kilda. Cloke's off to Carlton. Boak's off to Geelong, and Caddy's off to either Essendon or North Melbourne..

I'm forecasting an underwhelming trade period..

It can't be. If it is we may as well pack it in right now.

there is no way caddy is going to essendon they have nothing to give i think our pick 13 would get the deal done

Well, it doesn't mean we can't have a crack. We've got the picks to go after the likes of Boak and Caddy if we wanted to...but i'm not getting the impression that the stars of the competition are clamouring to sign with us just yet..

We got Mitch Clark, so who knows...

true. It would be tough for them to do a deal. North might be better placed...I'm sure we could do a deal that would satisfy GC if he chose to return to Melbourne, but all reports suggest he has his heart set on Essendon.

Perhaps someone should tell him we have a three game winning streak against them..

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
