Yup...its just one more little thing, but they can add up if all is not well.....

Poor Eddie must be having trouble sleeping with all this Cloke business going on. To quote the man himself, "The tom-toms are beating". Or, in this case, is it the "Travis-travises"?

Quite an aggressive stance from Cloke senior hey ? You'd reckon that Eddie will find a way to keep Travis - they can't afford to lose a player of his ilk . But ...........money talks . I see our Demons were mentioned again in the article . This whole thing is just not going away for the Pies . Good . Great !

It couldn't happen to a more deserving team. I can't help but get the feeling that it's Cloke Sr that is the greedy one, and Travis is just going with his father's wishes. As highly as I rate Cloke, I wouldn't want to see him at the Dees if it meant paying $800k+ for 5 years. That money could be much better invested elsewhere.

Yeah , I'm in two minds - we need him but at what price ? We've got young blokes that could develop into key forwards - McDonald , Cook etc but Travis would add wins to our team straight away . If the club did get him I think we'd all get used to it rather quickly 'GTG' . Much like our attitude when we acquired Clark .

I'd be throwing $1m+ at Cloke. We can afford it at this point in time. Clarke was paid more than $1m this year and will be ony $500k the rest of his contract. We could do something similar with Cloke.

Would net us immediate results.

Would set up our forward line for the next decade.

We have the picks to satisfy Collingwood. Pick 4 (Compo) and pick 12 (compo) should get the job done! Well worth it, he's the best contested marking player in the AFL, he's perfect age, in his prime, could average 60+ goals a year for next 8 years

We don't trade for cloke is a free agent we keep our picks the afl will give pies compo picks if he leaves

He's headed for a northern suburbs club where he can enjoy the local pasta according to my mail.

Big offer, can't refuse that blows all offers out of the water.

Don't know how they do it but they always manage to fit players in their salary cap.

Makes sense. They need him, perhaps more than us. But to be honest i know he's good but really only had the 2-3 top shelf seasons and i wouldn't want him at the dees for a five year contract on the sort of coin that's been bandied about - to big a risk. We need gun mids before another big forward (besides we've got garlo now)

Cloke not worth near the coin being talked .

Hope we stay well clear.

I think he would be a perfect fit for Melbourne and the way Neeld wants to play. Cloke would play CHF and could lead further up the ground, giving an option for our 'kick it long round the boundary' game style. Mark it, turn, and go long to Clark who is hard to beat one on one when the ball is put on top of his head.

The fact he is a free agent would mean we can use our high picks on mids, mids and more mids.

Posted

The downside of him leaving collingwood to anyone but us, is that the Pies would have a spare 750K p.a to spend on a player or two from another club...

Posted

I am sure Neeld is in a position better than most to know his true worth, and just how and where he would fit in.

Maintain the faith.

I think Travis will come to terms at some stage, I reckon he wants to stay. I don't particularly want him for that price anyway.

The only downside to Collingwood losing their star forward, is that GWS will most likely gain a star forward, and that club most certainly don't deserve to get better.

Pass from me. He is a flawed player. And very expensive. With a nutcake for a manager!

I see just as much upside in Cloke as I do in Clark...what did we pay for Clark?

The club has already clearly stated they are looking for another big forward, so I am certain that Cloke is well and truly in their sights. I expect to see him running around in Dees colours next year (but please don't revisit this post at the end of the year).

Well it wouldnt be Carlton. They are already in enough debt that we never hear about. He will go to GWS I think.

I hope the club really makes an effort to get him.

Clark, Cloke, Howe, Jurrah, Garland, Dunn? (maybe Watts later)

C'mon think about it! He monsters most back men. Will prolong Mitch's career as well.

Jack Viney in the draft, scour the minor leagues for a mature age crumber......

What about Lucas "sticky hands" Cook??

He will be our Cloke. Its not as if we are finals bound anytime soon. Id rather persist with Cook as our FF as IMO he will be a gun. Why would Cloke want to come to the Dee's anyway?? In all seriousness we have won one game for the year, we arent going to attract superstars anytime soon.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
