Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

When is his contract up?

Could his lack of leg speed this year be explained by this?

end of 2013

Davey will have no excuses next year, look the guy can still play, no doubt.

He will bounce back next year after a very solid pre-season hopefully.

Aaron has been limping since the NAB Cup. Heavy strapping on his knee all year. This and last year have been 2 of the worst by a senior footballer at this club I can remember. If it runs to trend next year surely he 'll be forced to pull the pin before the end of his contract.

Probably saved him.

He's had a shocking year, if he'd have played out the season, and his form was still crap, then he may well have been trade bait.

2013 will be his make or break year with us I reckon.

To be fair ... it sounded like he has a pretty solid game at Casey last week, and would have been pushing his name forward for selection I would have thought .... it's disappointing, but hopefully this gives him time to get the body right,... and work on the fitness levels that Neeld wanted him to for 2013.

I agree 2013 is a make or break year, and I hope he gets a solid preseason and some form up.

All things considered I really feel for the guy. I can still remember watching, mesmerised , his debut against Richmond. He was amazing. He all but invented the defensive forward idea ( in a way ) he just didnt allow anyone to get away or do anything.. He was a real pain in the arse for any opposition defender. . He is one of the few I really rate as a kick at Melbourne. But his speed is way off, his kicking is very measured now. In fact he plays a very measured game now and I cant help but feel that its not his natural way and he must get terribly frustrated at not being able to play his naturual game.

This injury doesnt bode well for Aaron. I really wish him the best of luck but you also have to at some point make those horrible decisions. Do I , dont I. Whats actually better in the long run etc. Id hate to see the lad go elsewhere and would prefer he finds/is found a role that can take advantage of his footy proesse and his seemingly natural talents at nurturing and mentoring his kinded brothers etc.

it might well be 5 mins to midnight :(

Thanks for coming Aaron, your contribution this season has been superlative. Paid $400K plus a season for a grand total of 84 disposals this year = roughly $5,000 per disposal, most of which were fairly useless.

Unfortunately no other club is stupid enough to take you off our hands for next year.

There have been many good memories created by Davey and ther is no doubt that he has been below his expected form output this year. With a contract finishing next year would seem that rest, recovery and fitness developmenty could see him perform at maximum next year to gaurantee a favourable contract renewal.

I would prefer that scenario as I dont see Aaron as the type to "take the money and run"

He still has much to offer and how his future unfolds which will set the legacy he leaves behind is surely up to him.

For all the memories thanks and I hope fervently that there are more to come and that the DAvey name will join those many respected Demon greats

Davey will be with us next year and should be working his bum off to get back some form.

He has been on top doller and given the MFC nothing of value in return.

This is part of the reason we are so bad because our senior players like Davey,Green,Moloney have given us little value on the park.

Go back and work hard and give us something to cheer about in 2013.

Yep, just got to love Dees supporters. The longer we stay down, the more feral we become.

I hate this time of year, and I'm sure Casey supporters will start to think here we go again, the Melbourne players get us to the finals but don't play in the finals. Aaron has been a laugh this year, I don't know how bad his knee was but some of his efforts early in the year the limp came out, then the footy was there the limp was gone. Got better over the past 6 weeks and in all Aaron got better still a long way off Aaron's best.

It is getting to that stage that the main priority for required players will be having them fit to start pre-season. We had to many in rehab prior to Christmas we need to ensure this doesn't happen this year. It wouldn't supprise me if we don't see Liam Jurrah play this year, we know the pending court case might determine this, but even if this goes well I think the club is preparing him for a full pre-season.

Bummer for Flash.

Hopefully this will clear the decks for Aaron to have a monster pre-season and hit 2013 fit, firing and full of confidence.

His best is better than most on our list and he's not so old as to not be able to thrive under the current FD for a couple of years still.

Well lets hope in 2013 PaulRB because another season like 2011 and 2012 might be the end.

an interesting aspecct to it all , for mine, is the idea that to some degree we have to stagger the contracts amongst the guys..... Dont want them all coming off them at same time now do we.

its funny how every thread contains a paraphrased version of this post, no matter what the topic started we find a way to get to this

Could it be worth offering Davey a 2 yr contract to the end 2014 that is alot less than his current one yr contact for next yr, but slightly over the one year left on next yrs contract. It gives Davey an extra year, a little bit more money, but alot less moula for next yr (more value next yr for his current output). He is only 29 yrs old

The writing is on the wall he wont get a contract past next yr. Other clubs wont want to touch him after 2013 due to 2 bad yrs, and it opens the coffers for recruitment next yr and beyond.

if Davey continues to have recurring injuries he simply wont be here in 2014...and unlikley to be anywhere .

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
