I see all these trade scenarios and it began to make me wonder how all these potential targets from trades and drafting would fit into our current team so I thought I would do a bit of a line-up so here goes.

Back Bartram - Frawley - Rivers

Half Backs McDonald - Watts - Blease

Mids Howe - Grimes - Trengove

Half Forwards Sylvia - Clark - Jurrah

Forwards Garlett - Cook - Garland

Followers Jamar - Jones - Viney

Int Wines - Mckenzie - Tapscott Sub: Gysberts

New: Garlett, Viney, Wines, Cook

(Trying to be realistic/modest, could've also included Boak/Stringer/Cloke who would have taken Gysberts/Tapscott and Cooks place)

Out: Moloney, Nichoson, Dunn, Magner, Seller, Bate

Mckenzie to start on bench, once the game is underway and the most damaging player on opposition is identified, Mckenzie can pick him up as part of mid-field rotation.

Dear god what a depressing thread. The usual suspects just keep getting named. A midfield that has been smashed most of this year finds that it's all Magner's fault - otherwise, business as usual plus Viney. And Bartram, the silky smooth deliverer of the ball coming out of the back half regains his spot. At least the Dr got some help for an aging Jamar.

It's not Magners fault but for our team to improve it has to come from Strauss, Blease, Trengove, Jurrah, Gysberts, Tapscott, Watts, Howe, McDonald and McKenzie, if the majority of these guys can't start to deliver good footy on a consistant basis we will not see the massive improvement we are hoping for.

3 to 4 will need to go from our first 22 and honestly I think Magner was just recruited as a make shift player to add some grunt in the short term until new talent can be recruited or developed.

B:Scarlett Satan Frawley

HB:Deledio Ganesh Goddard

C:Black caviar Cat d9 Makybe diva

HF:Messi Franklin Bolt

F:Rioli Clark Cox

R:Apache chief Ablett Dangerfield

Int: Grimes Trengove Jones

Sub: Jesus

Satan will put a bit of fear into the opposition forwards and Ganesh should be able to get one of those 8 arms in for a spoil. I've gone for run, run and more run on the wings and the d9 ahold be able to push the ball forward from stoppages all day. Messi is a goal scoring freak and Bolt, Usain not Andrew, will create good defensive pressure up forward. Cox to relieve in the ruck for Apache Chief who should be enupchucking the hitouts all day. A bit controversial to start our captains on the bench but good for balance. Jesus is the sub in case we need a last quarter miracle.

I heard that the invisible man was invited to training. Anyone know if he turned up?

FB: Frawley, Rivers, Bartram

HB: Watts, McDonald, Strauss

C: Trengove, McKenzie, Stevens

HF: Howe, Garland, Magner

FF: Martin, Clark, Byrnes

FOLL: Jamar, Grimes, Viney

INT: Blease, Jones, Sylvia, Tapscott (s)

EMERG: Cook, Gysberts, Toumpas

New: Koby Stevens, grab him from WC with trades of Bennell & Petterd and our 3rd round pick, may involve a 3rd club being involved.

Shannon Byrnes signed as a free agent as the squeez starts to take effect at geelong. With Motlop, Stokes, Varcoe, Christensen, Chapman etc, lets throw 700K over 2 years at him. Very good small forward, premiership player who will fill a badly needed void of ours.

Jack Viney, fingers crossed we can get him with our second round pick.

Jimmy Toumpas, would love to get him at pick 3, will put real pressure on our midfielders for a regular game.

Other new arrivals I'd love to see would be Jake Stringer at pick 4 as a potential long term KPF or midfielder and Dayle Garlett at pick 13 as our long term crumbing forward.

This team would see the likes of Moloney, Gysberts, Toumpas, Jurrah, Davey and Bail being forced to play at Casey to earn a game. While Stringer and Cook are still given time to develop at Casey before they force the likes of Garland and Martin out of the forward line.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
