Title says it all. Bombers will be unveiling their new clash strip on the weekend against the 'Aints.

Wonder if it means we will get a home game against them now????

Number one - I don't see how this is a clash strip. It is still a red sash with a dark alternate colour.

Number two - I think this will clash with the Saints jumper even more so than their usual jumper (given that it keeps the red and then blends the two other St Kilda colours together).

I can't believe that "the team of the red and the blue" has to have a strip with white in it.

Was looking at the Port Melbouren strip on the weekend and thinking it would make a great away strip I.e red and blue stripes...

I'm still shaking my head at last weeks game of Fremantle v Essendon at Patterson's. Freo had to wear their clash gear.

Is it just me, or has the AFL lost their marbles in respect to clash guernsey's and AFL umpire colour clashes with teams ?

All clubs should be required to have clearly dark and light strips to avoi clashes, like in the NBA, the EPL and various other top level sporting leagues.

It's not rocket science, and it does nothing to dilute the club's brand, despite what some would like you to think.

If as a club all you stand for are your colours, then you don't stand for much at all.

And if the AFL are serious about light and dark, then what the fcuk was going on with Syd v GWS ? Who is light who is dark ? Orange back v red back. Ridiculously inconsistent.

This isn't so much about Dark vs. Light - It didn't seem to be too hard to distinguish between Red and Orange on the Weekend. It's about CLASH.

And boy, the Essenscum are a bunch of whiners. The MFC clash jumper was, until last year, a disgrace. Not because it wasn't Red and Blue - but because it wasn't a Melbourne Jumper...The current clash strip is a Melbourne jumper. Plain and simple the Dons supporters should be pleased with what was achieved - i.e. it's still an EFC jumper.

I think the colour on the initial pics was a touch dark, but subsequent pics have shown it to be a lighter shade of grey - looks to be ok. Why they can't wear white is beyond me though.

As always, the AFL make the rules up as they go along.

There are times I turn on the tv/stream/etc these days and don't know who's playing, or where (ie who is home). So I turn it off.

Edit: and Meh. The current clash is not a Melbourne jumper. It's a Sydney jumper with blue side panels.

So virtually all other clubs have been forced, sorry the "small/new clubs" have been forced to have clash jumpers for how long now but Caro thinks it's a disgrace the Dons are now falling into line in some small way... Even if she has a point it annoys me no end it takes the Dons change to get her fired up when the rest of the comp has been doing pushed on it for years now.

I am young and have, as far as I know, good eye sight, so if there is the odd game that I find difficult to distinguish teams from one another, especially with the mass of bodies around the ball these days, then I am sure there are many older viewers or others with poorer vision or even people who just have smaller older tvs who are having great difficulty distinguishing.

In my line of work, and most lines of work, accessibility is a key goal, which means to make the work usable by as many people as possible, which generally refers to those with disabilities of some sort, and I see no reason why the AFL is any different. And if wearing a light jumper 3 or 4 times a year ensures that, then is it really that bad.

If done properly can be a great marketing ploy by the club. There is a reason EPL clubs bring out vastly different away strips pretty much every season, and that is because fans lap it up.
