Anyone notice what Dermie said last night?

After JT could that big grab over Boak, Boak tapped Jack on the back almost to say, 'nice mark?'

Hopefully he said, 'See you next year.'

The last thing we need is JT leaving us for Port Adelaide.

Yeah, or that hack Boak coming to us as a teammate.

Not that it specifically relates to this topic, but we have been discussing where Melbourne will finish (as a guide to understanding what order we would sit come draft time). Would be interested to hear peoples thoughts. I have not locked in wins against GWS or GC (but for the purposes of this thread I am counting them as winnable to see where we would finish). GC and GWS play eachother and us, so there is some chance of a slide lower than we are now.

After Saturday, we surely cant finish higher than 3rd last, and there is a slight chance - slight only, that we could finish second last. With that in mind we should be pretty well placed to get one player from another club through a trade of picks if that is what we want to do (out mid first round pick if Viney slips to second round?).

Also think if we win less than five games there is a chance the AFL will give us a priority pick at the end of the first round. God we stink. 2007=5 wins, 2008=3 wins, 2009=4 wins, 2010=8 wins, 2011=8 wins, 2012=4 wins???. FMD that is 32 wins out of 132 games = 24% winning ratio. (Take away wins against GC, GWS and Port and the ratio would stink far far more).

Somethings gotta change.

Can't imagine Boak being too keen to defect to MFC after our performance against Port on the weekend...

I'd say case closed for Boak to the dees.

He plays for Port who are also duds and we have proven to be pretty good salesmen in the form of getting Mitch. Also we are in the best position to deal with Port. It might come down either us or Port as Geelong and North can't beat our picks.

Nothings a waste of time skills when your doing something you love.

i see you love negativity.

No not negativity but flogging dead horses and chasing rainbows (which this thread is) are not part of my make up.

Actually I am more into positivity.

So why read & post in here then , if all you've got is putdowns. Your an ex moderator, I'd hope for a higher plane from you, than that.

How far-fetched do you think a 3 way like this would be

Melb - pick 3 to port

Port- Boak to geelong

Geelong - Hawkins to melb

I would pay pick 3 for hawkins in a heartbeat, pay him the coin we had aside for Cloke and we have filled that hole of having a good contested marker in our forward line.

No way Geelong will part with Tomahawk when their other big forward is starting to have age catch up with him

Hawkins is a father /son pick. He wont be traded. I'd rather Boak than Hawkins anyway to be honest. when is this season EVER going to end.

Offer him 1.1 million over 7 seasons and Hawkins may have a different mindframe about the idea.\

Even to just stir the pot a bit :P

Oli, are you just stirring people up? Or have you ever sniffed petrol?

In your scenario, Geelong gains nothing, and probably go backwards.

Port get a player & and lose 4 Yrs of development.

And we pay too much.

Calm down champ. Obviously its a high level scenario and there would be more involved. No need to get ur knickers in a twist

Hope Nth Melb and Geelong into a huge bidding war. Get into it boys and then may the "Oh sh.t" factor of getting the Demons to get rid of a first rounder to facilitate the deal come into play. Still like Caddy myself.

I don't believe he's going to either of them.

IMO the cats going over to SA, was a last ditch effort to win him over. Why! Because he's got a better deal.

IMO Carlton who have said previously they would like a player like him, have. > http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/blues-delay-contract-talks-with-mclean-20120725-22qvk.html

Could possibly still happen, word is he's looking at leaving Port for Geelong, however the Cats may not be able to offer suitable compensation, unlike Melbourne, and he could slip through to the draft where I don't imagine Neeld would hesitate in taking him and doing away with the old school "gentleman's agreement" allowing players to go to whichever club they prefer.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
