Stress fractures are a long term stress related injury so doubt that is the concern. I think the concern would be some damage to ligaments that might be better off with time off rather than continue playing on them, but we'll wait and see. That he managed to walk all the way to the punt road end then back after the game without major discomfort is somewhat of a good sign.

Yeah that makes sense. FIney on SEN mentioned stress fractures. Chinese whispers. He has just been fantastic for us and just seems to be a great club man. I really hope everything is ok

Living in Brisbane, I had seen a lot of Mitch Clark and was happy we got him, but in no way did I expect him to be so influential as a key forward so early in his time at Melbourne. If you are watching the replay, keep an eye out for his first or second big grab in the 1st quarter and just look how high he takes the ball, 200cm + a big leap + arms fully outstretched + strong hands = extremely hard to spoil for most key defenders.

Tim Watson made that point on the TV coverage - he times his leap so well, that he takes the ball right at its peak. Impossible to deal with given his height.

Stay clear of him, and he'll be fine. If he misses the mark, he's more than capable of getting up and laying the tackle. Besides, he can take on 4 opponents easy. He's Mitch Clark!

On a serious note, things like this will come with time. Our forwards, especially those who have played about 2 games together (Rivers and Garland), are still learning to work around him.

Going forward we'll have to work on set plays so that somebody learns to stay down. At the moment you have Clark, Howe and at some point Jurrah all trying to take mark of the year, and nobody is at their feet in case they miss.
