Hart , Matthews , Skilton .

lol, Really?

I mean Really?

The thing that makes an argument like yours nul and void, is that the ancient fossils named in your list (matthews excepted), were never submitted to testing.

Todays players are.

Faster

Fitter

More Skilled (by LIGHT YEARS)

Better Coached

etc, etc, etc

I would prefer Dipper, Worsfold, and Archer, if you want players of a byegone era.

At least we would get a boost in an area that is lacking.

Like the old cricket argument over which team would win, Bradmans, or Waughs.

Steve and the boys would have been on the booze by lunch on day 4

I wasn't being serious - I just plucked 3 names from the past with no real forethought .

Post #5 for current players .

What if the assumption was that those old players had today's coaching, fitness and general professionalism?

I would go

(1) Watson

(2) Pendleton

(3) cotchin

Would go sully instead of Watson but too scared what the reaction would be.

Come to think of it I will go Franklin instead of Watson. Caught up in the emotion of Essendon's comeback against the Swans

Any one who would not have G.Ablett is either not serious or hasn't got a clue

Ablett, L. Jetta and take your pick Ballantyne, Pendlebury, Betts or Conca.

Coniglio (swan districts boy)

Gaff

Ablett

2 up and coming midfield guns and the best player in the comt

Fair call range rover, but we wouldn't get him the ball like the hawks can

Who underrates him?

Not so much underrated but half my family go for the swans and if he was in a melbourne team he would be so much bigger and more noise would be made.

Just like the big Pav from freo

Just a fun exercise, but say you had carte blanch to sign three players from rival clubs on 4 year deals. Anyone at all ... which three would you bring to the Demons? Think list management and flag-tilt.

Mine?

1. Patrick Dangerfield

2. Lance Franklin

3. David Swallow

!. Ablett

2. Judd

3. Franklin

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
