When is the board going to act?

I don't see how removing any admin staff will improve the performance of the team either.

If they are the root causes of our problems then they should be the next to go.

No doubt, but you want action now and not only is it not going to happen - it isn't wise.

We will deal with any issues with the admin at the end of the year - but now is not the time. It won't help us get qualified personnel (they are employed at other clubs) and it won't help our current predicament.

We need actions this week, otherwise this club is going to implode again....

What actions?

What do you want to see/hear?

Because all you will see/hear is solemn faces and platitudes.

The action needs to be on the field and there are 22 blokes who need to convince about 35k people they would like to continue playing in the jumper we allow them to play in.

not sure rpfc but the players are not playing for the club or the jumper right now.

Another 14 weeks of this...the MFC may not survive that.

Where is the cancer that is feeding on this club. It has been there a long time.

To act without forethought or simply arbitrarily clearly would be unwise.

However, I can think of no other enterprise, where the "leaders" of the organisation simply sit idly by and say nothing.

As with any best laid plans, they sometimes go awry, but as with any solid business plan, there should always be contingency planning in place. I, for one, want to hear a strong and unequivocal statement that the club is united, accepts our monstrous deficiencies without question and articulates a clear plan, for the benefit of the sponsors and members, for the future. They simply cannot remain silent any longer.

It's all platitudes, and wanting that is fine.

But it's all talk, and seeking that is fine.

I just hope those that want this talk don't turn around next week and say "I don't want any more talk," that is not fine.

No, a clear course of action needs to be spelled out in detail with time frames. If last year was not enough then the Energy Watch and sponsorship fiasco should have been.

RPFC, OK, let me ask you a question, consonant with my last post. Name me any other organisation, when the entire premise of their commercial existence is in crisis, that would say absolutely nothing to their stakeholders?

I, as I suspect most of us, go to the MFC website to see what the club has to say about yet another debacle, every Monday. If I read one more time "Five things we learned"; to paraphrase Terry Wallace, I'll spew up. Talk about "platitudes". Clearly, in 8 weeks, nothing has been "learned". If there had been lessons learned, then the results would be at least marginally different.

RPFC, there is a business imperative here and it needs to be addressed. As I said, the club must at least be seen by its stakeholders, that it is - and I hate to use the term - being proactive in an undoubted crisis.

By doing what they were going to do before 186 and rid this club of Cameron Schwab and his cohorts before it is too late.

..so it is Schwab and McLardy go out onto the field and play without any passion whatsoever?

Yeah, get rid of them and hang onto the moping, sulking senior players who don't seem to give a toss (and we know who at least a few of them are) and maybe '"don't like the Board" or the new hard nosed coach who asked that they work hard and put in. Are they the ones who wrote down the debt?

Sit tight and give Neeld and Missen this season and next to get those who are asked to stick around to show when fully fit what they can offer, then reconsider.

Yeah I agree we have moping, sulking players who dont give a toss. But IMO we have got into a cycle that every player that comes here will turn out like that eventually. Promising careers have been ruined at this club and will continue to do so. And as I said before I believe Neeld and Co are caught in the crossfire from last seasons unresolved issues and I'd hate to see them turn out to be the latest scapegoats. Why is it we see Neeld continue take all the public heat and try to answer the tough questions whilst McLardy, the meddling Schwab and his co-horts hide in the shadows?

Geeezzz....I swore that I would not read demonland today because I knew that I would see the same old comments....Sack the board.....Sack CS.....Sack the coach....Sack the players....Just a reminder....Port Adelaide just last year....It was in 5mil debt....would not hold any of it's players....Would fold in 2 years time....Their coach was crap....their players played with no spirit....no cohesion and were stuffed as a club....

They have turned it around to where now they have a red hot go every game they play, they might not win but they have a go.......

Administation........................Are responsible for the financial welfare of the club(we are debt free for the first time in many years)

Players and Coaches...........Are responsible for the on field performances

Recruiting Staff....................Are responsible for drafting the best young players

Those calling for heads.......don't sit here whinging do something about it.....ie Put up or shut up

Who's calling for heads? We're simply asking the club to make a strong public statement to its stakeholders, as any business would do in the same dire circumstances.

As for your compartmentalising of a football club, that is just being over simplistic. No business is as any stronger than the sum of all its parts. To suggest you can isolate a segment of the club and say that is all we have to fix is being naive. Clearly, we have an endemic cultural problem at the MFC and right now we're a laughing stock and have been for sometime. The competitive market that today's football industry is will not tolerate such performances and allow such an organisation to survive.

If you're willing to accept that, then I would suggest such an attitude is reflective of the very problems which ail this club.

I posted that wanting reassuring talk from your club is fine.

I am merely pointing out that they can do very little to get us out of our predicament in the immediate term, and I know that whatever Schwab and McLardy come out and say there will be thread on here instantly decrying their 'cheap talk.'

I would like to hear from them as you do, I am just explaining that it will do little and they will be as pilloried as appluaded for it.

Fair enough, but let's just wait and see shall we.

They must be honest and tell the supporters what is going on.That is all they have to do. At the moment they are hiding. What is the problem? They will not be pilloried if they tell the truth. The club cannot make change until there is transparency. A few people might have to take a hit but so be it. This is a test of leadership not seeming doing. How aabout it Don? Stand up and tell the truth!

What do you want them to say? Quite simply what we are serving up is sheyt. Not too many ways you can slice and dice that. It is all down to actions from here on in. Bugger the website expose', twitter updated. Just need to get on with it.

Correct. Tell the supporters the whole truth so we know. Otherwise the supporters will walk.

Respect those who pay money and we shall understand. But this time tell the whole story.

Posted

they cant say 'we are tanking' or 'moloney is bullying us into paying him overs, then bullying our midfield so they cant play without being yelled at' or 'we f$#kd up and hired an unproved coach'

best way is to let it play out and let actions speak louder then words. Im sure we will see some actions/changes made if suitable

And that won't happen until - whatever the problem is - the issue is addressed. The cause of the illness needs to be treated, not the symptoms. Only the inner sanctum of the club can know the "cause".

Again, I can only ask the question, if any other business enterprise, with a public profile, allowed itself to continue this rapid, gut-wrenching and potentially fatal downward spiral without going to the "market" and addressing the issue, how would that very market they seek to have buy from them react?

Just as well the MFC is not a listed company, as the shares would be well and truly dumped by now.

Looking any further than the players for the major cause of our dilemma is a massive cop out.

Looking at different games plans from last century of football, they all have one element in common. To be successful you have to care enough about your club and team-mates to go in hard and play with passion and drive.

The only people that can turn this around is the people who can actually put their foot on the leather and thats the players.

What is the truth ? Is it the same truth as last year ? Poor midfield ...Poor leadership...Lack of skill and instantaneous confident play ? A failure to adhere to instruction ? A festering cancer within player ranks ? Overrated midfield downhill skier ? No star players ? Failure to adhere to instruction ?

Or all of the above ?

If they are as transparent like this there will be more questions.

The club needs our support, it's hard but IMO its a non negotiable.

Spot on Nutbean

The only way this will change short term is exactly like you said.

In saying that as a club we need to address who wants to play for the MFC and who is here just happy to be an AFL player. And move them on asap.

Pay out contracts (if possible) now and remove the crap rotting this club whoever it is.....

Posted

The Board know what the main problem is (so do i, now) after a few chats with the right people. But the club must come clean to the members because they knew this year was going to be a right off, but were still happy to accept memberships.

It will take 2 years to clean out the playing list of those who "do not wish to play".

I do not know exact names but it aint hard to work out.

All of the above? And no doubt the organisation is the polar opposite according to all the apologists around here. The fearless heroic administration battling against the lazy gutless players.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
