Would be the only way the coaches get a buzz out of watching the sh!t performances of some of our players recently.

Worked for another team I wont mention...

mark my words - the cloke thing is a smoke screen - we are inflating his price, he has no intention of leaving and its our way of distracting the media from the players we are really pursueing.

thats my leaning also. I cant see the Maggies letting him go, nor would he probably want to.. he gets a free ride to Millionairesville. Good luck to him. Butit doesnt hurt to prod and pester a little...us being the niggler for a change... This is fun :) lol

its fun until the same thing happens that happened with Luke Ball - he openly shows contempt at the thought of playing for the dees.

smokescreen, yes and no. Obviously we're trying to inflate his price and put pressure on the Pies salary cap, but at the same time, should the Jurrah situation take a turn for the worse, then i think we will really ramp up our bid and try and bring Cloke in to replace Jurrah should he not be available to play for the Dees any longer (i'd prefer Jurrah to get off and not have cloke, allowing us to make some plays at decent mids).

youre probably confusing me with someone who actually cares what a Cloke thinks !!

This is is just sport...aka....lets stuff up a Maggies day !!

Im not actually fussed about all this ..."wouldnt play for the Dees" stuff. Some will...and they will make the team better for it.

I'm glad to see some aggression. I would rather come out of this with Dal Santo, Sewell, and Black but at least we are making agents aware that we have the cap room to back up our talk.

It's also a sign to our players that we aren't going to rest on our laurels, and even if their own teammates won't create competition for spots through form, we'll then just go out and buy someone who can perform in that role.

Complacency is not an option.

Strong ties might see Cloke heading to the Demons for reasons other than just $$.....

Mods.... If this has already been posted please delete

Melbourne would not comment last night on Cloke, with chief executive Schwab saying that it was club policy not to comment on player contracts or recruitment of players.

- from link...

Apparently Barrett will be interviewing Neil Craig tonight on TFS and will cover the topic of Travis Cloke. Will be interesting to see if the above statement holds true and there is no comment !

I'd prefer the club keep it all in-house.

The Footy Show comments from Neil Craig interview :

Neil Craig (Director of Sports) saying:

Cloke would be in most clubs sights.

To have a two key forward set up with Cloke and Clark combination of key forwards would be a dangerous combination set up.

Barrett says no offer, only Travis Cloke a prospect for Melbourne.

Says there hasn't been a tougher initiation for a first year coach "in the history of the game"...

Says Mark Neeld is open minded, very strong, very clear of what he wants as coach, says there are certain qualities of what he wants for the footy club and there will be "no deviation from that" (lol) .

Says the club will be very selective, diligent of who is available/who is not available.

Wants to keep Sylvia.

The full interview of Neil Craig will be on The Sunday Footy Show - for those interested.

YES! If we get Cloke, our team would make a huge step up the ladder immediately without a doubt.

Check out this team and tell me it doesn't look good:

Bartram Frawley Grimes

Morton Rivers Garland

Trengove Moloney Sylvia

Watts Cloke Jurrah

Howe Clark Davey

Jamar Jones McKenzie

Interchange: Viney, Magner, Blease, Green.

Just miss: Petterd, Martin, Bail, Tapscott, Strauss, Bennel, Gysberts, Taggert

Forward line= top quality. Cloke and Clark would one of the best big men combos in the league. Jurrah, Howe, Watts, Petterd, Green and Sylvia plenty of talent there. Still missing a small forward.

Defence= very solid. With an adequate midfield, this defence would be recognised as one of the best in the league imo. Garland, Frawley, Rivers and Grimes form a solid combination for next few years.

Midfield= still very weak. But we've just gotta hope Trengove and Viney can lead the way, Moloney and Sylvia show a bit of heart and that guys like Morton, Blease and Gysberts take the next step to help out servicable workers in Jones, Magner and McKenzie.

FFS. He's still a Pie.

We may be a chance. But I want to hate the bloke come round 11 so let's ease up on putting him in our line up...

We'd have the best marking forwardline in the comp but we'd still have the lowest inside 50 stats of the 18 teams. It'd be like dating Miranda Kerr and not being able to get it up . . .

Sorry Mods.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
