Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Well done Mtch 4 goals , worked his butt off! Chasing, roving, defending, no one to help him!

Frawley kept Hawkins to 1 goal

Jones works his butt off dives in! should be captain! no disrespect to Trengove/Grimes but too young

Silvia, needs to be dropped very soft

Morton soft just watches the contest never dives in

Our forwards except for Mitch just let the ball come out too easy!

As I posted on my Facebook...

Alright, MFC supporters. Once we get our players somewhere near elite fitness (like every other club), rid the list of lazy, unaccountable front-runners (specifically Moloney and Sylvia), then we'll be competing for the 8.

The structures are beginning to show signs of progress. The likes of Tom Macdonald improving (off giving Riewoldt a bath last week), Frawley and Garland in AA form again, a dominating Mitch Clark with LJ to come back - it doesn't look so gloomy.

Once we inject some pace around Jones and Magner (this would include Blease off half back or a wing and three top draft picks for next draft), play Watts on a wing, floating forward and a hungry Stef Martin next to Clark, and all of a sudden you're not that far off.

Keep the faith. Neeld and his FD know what they're doing.

Go red legs.

We were awful today and Geelong could have beaten us by a lot more but never extended themselves; we kicked a couple and they kicked a few more like some sort of training run. I hear Harley saying after the game they had something like 10 players that had less than 50 games under their belt so we can't claim youth.

We are a very ordinary side and if anyone really thinks we will win many/any games this year, they are delusional.

I have never seen a slower more unaccountable side play AFL football.

it must be heartbreaking for some of the players that put in every week to see some of the lame efforts put in by their team mates.

Sylvia, Moloney and a few of the others should be ashamed of themselves.

Rubbish post of the highest order. Go barrack for someone else.

Sylvia is 2 games into returning, and Moloney was honest and has more credits in the bank than most.

Geelong may have had 10 players under 50 games, but we have more, and you might think about who the other 12 Cats are!

We are 6 games into a new contested ball, defensive, elite structure, against one of the best games of all time, on their patch.

We clearly had a dip today, just lacked class, spread, pace and structure.

Did you see Geelong singing the team song?

Completely passionless like a team that had done what it had to against uncompetitive opposition.

Long way to go before we are a feared opponent!

Still progress by Morton of late gives hope that others can learn to step up to the challenge.

We live in hope (not much else to do.)

No, no, no - Stef Martin is a step in the wrong direction........

I can't work out Stef would be a step in the wrong directions as opposed to Sellar. He's younger, he showed he can hold a ruck position and he can take a mark. Best Sellar can do is provide a contest.

A step back from last week but there's something there.

Morton is actually showing signs. I don't bloody believe it.

I want to believe, but I don't because I don't want to have hope for him only for him to turn awful.

Although...maybe he actually gets it? The other players are struggling, but the game plan has clicked for him?

I think he retards our side.

Martin was an absolute beast last year. Why has everybody seemed to forget that? I'm sure that if he were given more responsibility in the ruck, we would see much more from him. Jamar full-forward, Clark CHF, Martin ruck. That's a talls rotation I can get behind.

It's just that there's no....awareness of playing footy.

Turns it over, thinks his designated role is a ball carrier.

Quite undisciplined.

Sorry, there's been no development at all.

gidon - I think you will be looking at at least one more hard pre-season under Missen before they reach anything like the endurance level needed to match it with the big boys over what Barassi refers to as not the 100 minutes but the 6000 seconds,, ie the whole match.

Poor fitness in the modern game leads to lapses in concentration and inability to chase, pressure and make options.

I hope your right monoccular. Our skills are poor too! But fitness can improve that too

Martin would be preferred to Sellar any day of the week. Sellar gave nothing today. Martin would at least have made something of some sort happend and then followed up in the ruck contest. Trust me Martin>Sellar and everyone knows it. Im sorry but Neeld musta been drunk when Craig recommended this flop!

You are obviously easily satisfied. I don't care how many games we are in to a "new contested ball, defensive, elite structure" we were very ordinary today and if you can't see that then i suggest you have a look at the replay.

We are sooo slow it is embarrassing; both by foot and hand.

Moloney and Sylvia were both ordinary today and I would suggest that that's par for the course for Moloney when we play a superior side and not far off for Sylvia.

Open your eyes, the Football Department have and that's why Moloney is no longer in the leadership group.

Can someone please, please, please tell Jamar NOT to handball to someone three inches away from him whose got an opponent breathing down their neck?

Can someone please tell Mark Jamar to stop winning the hitout to noone!

I agree. He's the one always pointing at everyone to get into position, but never runs the other way himself. Lazy little [censored].

Would 'young Col' still have any trade value later this year? And forget the '2 games into returning' stuff. He plays like he's resuming most of the games he plays. A bit of a Narcissus complex perhaps...too much in love with his own reflection. Simply doesn't do the hard yards regularly enough and impose himself on a game. Carlton might be interested or even the Swans who have a great track record in transforming players. ATM he's average at best and a new start might be a winner both ways depending on the deal.

Not quick enough or smart enough to play regular FF, Jamar. In the modern game you need to be able to keep the ball inside your own forward 50. I'd definitely be playing Martin next week though. Miles ahead of Sellar. That said, I think if Sellar has a position, it'd be down back and now probably cemented by a vastly improving Tom Macdonald. In essence, he now doesn't have a position. Bring Martin back in, even if he did struggle earlier on this season. Martin occasionally plays in front, I cannot recall a time Sellar did today.

Concur with the comments on Morton. I'm enjoying his development under Neeld and co. His strength and attack on the ball and man is impressive. He may become a player after all.

Why has Trengove gone backwards? I don't believe it's pace. He has leg speed to be better than he is playing. Neeld has been good for Jones and Morton, so I believe Trenners will come good too.

Sellar did good things v Dogs, but not so good today. Martin is a loose canon, but sometimes it works (lacks the discipline that Neeld demands) I want Martin to develop his game. I am a supporter (of Martin), but Sellar does a lot of stuff that fits the game plan... However, today he had a poor game (as poor as Watts last week)

There was a ball up today where Jamar absolutely dominated West, had eons to tap the ball wherever he wanted to, but chose to put it literally three inches from his feet. It's absolutely moronic to do that, and I cannot for the life of me understand why he continually chooses to take that option. It's as though he doesn't really appreciate what the purpose of winning ruck taps is.

Morton soft just watches the contest never dives in

Not today, nor last week. Has improved considerably - and didn't shirk. Not jogging up and down the wing - right in it, and a few long kicks to the forwards.

No one other than Clark played well, but Morton is a keeper at the moment.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
