It's a great analogy. You get a reprieve and think "yay it's over", then again.

If you think we are not that bad you are kidding yourself. We are lucky Geelong can't convert. Minus 60 in uncontested possessions and it's only half time!

Just because we are not 100 points down doesn't mean it's happy days. Trying hard is not good enough, it's a bloody given.

I appreciate that we are not lying down and giving up, but our skills and decision making is just woeful. I doubt Mark Neeld is in there praising them.

People would disagree, but Stef Martin is surely a better option. Quicker, better ruck chop out, and does actually take a grab. As a spoiling defender Sellar may have a role against bigger bodies, but he is useless in the forward line.

Happy with:

The scoreline; should be worse, but they didn't take all their chances, thankfully we have.

Clark is worth what we're paying, get a more competitive midfield he'll look even better.

Morton has back up last week with a good showing in the first half, some good tackles and isn't over thinking things.

Davey quiet but what he's has been good.

Mackenzie was doing a good job on Bartel, let him kick a goal and the umpires gifted him another

Intensity still isn't there, both quarters we were lucky not to have 4 goals kicked on us in the first 5-10min.

Silly mistakes, moving the ball in the wrong direction in the wrong way.

All up pretty happy with what I am seeing today, and must say have been a big pessimist this year. We seem to be working a bit more together as a team each week which is great to see. 3 glaring issues with our game appear to be:

1. Running. When every possession we have is contested and then other teams find loose men everywhere coming back the other way, it says we are not spreading hard enough when we get the ball, and manning up/chasing hard enough when we don't.

2. Tackling. Way too many of our tackles don't stick, and as a result we have two or three blokes trying to complete a tackle on the one opponent. This inevitably results in loose opposition players around the contest able to receive and run free if the ball does come out.

3. Kicking to advantage. As frustrating as it is that every time we go forward we are not kicking to an open forward or hitting up one on a lead,it is far worse that whe we kick to a contest it seems we kick to the advantage of the opposition. Surely senior AFL players should have enough control over their disposal to at least put the ball to the same side of a contest that our bloke is standing.

These 3 areas have been consistent shortfalls of our play every game this year. At the very least if we can improve our running I would think we would have picked up the games against WB and the Saints.

All that being said, I have been happy to see the improvement this week, just hope we can make some gains in these 3 areas and really pick up our competitiveness every week!
