Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Great sentiment but not viable. This club needs to stand on its own two feet and further handouts from it's members is not the answer. We have given enough - over to the club now!

That's right, it's not a long-term solution but rather a show of support and small financial contribution. If you don't like the idea that's fine, don't contribute that's OK (I won't hold it against you), but if this is to get off the ground I don't need every second person saying how bad the idea is, please keep it to yourself.

I agree, but it is up to us to steer the club through this rather intense meteor shower. Maybe the club could discount further memberships to those who contribute. We cannot go back into serious debt. Free agency is the bottom line. If we don't have $$$$ the llist will be carved up.

Sorry I just don't agree with you. If the club isnt first and foremost for the members like every other club in the world then who is it for. I'm sick of our supporters sitting back and saying its someone else's problem to fix the club. This is OUR club. We need to get behind it when required. It exists for us because we want it to.

No one care more about our club than us. Is it ideal to have corp sponsors? Yes. It is necessary in the football world but that does not mean we should sit on our hands and wait for that to happen.

No need to get so defensive - as previous stated your idea has great sentiment but in the grand scheme of things won't really achieve much at all. Geez, if you're going to make a post you need to expect comments comming back that might not 100% agree with your idea or viewpoint. Either suck it up or don't bother posting if you can't handle what comes back your way!

I think another thing we could do is use any contacts to suggest sponsorship options for the club. Remember how we signed Kaspersky because a supporter mentioned the club needed a sponsor in a business meeting, and that ended up generating a couple of $$ million for the MFC.

For me, well I don't know anyone high up in any major business, so unfortunately can't contribute!

Okay so should we all take out $100,000 loans and donate it to the club????? Is that the answer is it? We've already donated plenty so for you to state that we are sitting on our hands and doing nothing if we don't donate to a cause like what is being suggested in this thread is just ludicriuos to be honest! Let's be honest, the club has been the ones sitting on their hands when it comes to obtaining a front of jumper sponsor. It seems we've been too passive "waiting" for the right opportunity to avail itself instead of aggressively going out and obtaining the sponsor. Well, we can all see that this passive approach has somewhat put us in the sh*t for the time being becuase now we are down a major sponsor and still without a front of jumper sponsor.....

Us supporters have done plenty for the cause - we are not paid by the club, we pay money to the club. It's time for the people PAID by the club to start making a real difference!

To suggest I'm saying take out $100k loan is ludicrous and not what anyone herein talking about.

Does the club need to find sponsors...of course. Will this happen tomorrow? No

Have supporters and members already contributed alot? Absolutely.

Fact is do you want the club to survive and thrive or not?

Surely donating more member money while the club seeks more sponsorship won't hurt?

Agree with you that's the paid club people's job but as members our obligation doesn't end at a few donations.

Anyway as Clint said no one is holding a gun to your head. If feel the way you do don't contribute.

I would be proud to contribute more regardless of the thousands I have dipped in our the years.K

Now this is a great idea - it's viable and most importantly has a successful hit with Kaspersky signing on!!!

I'll make it simple for you Simma.

It's a personal choice sort of thing

Nobody is pressuring you

If someone else wants to contribute its none of your damn business

no-one is saying the club shouldn't be trying to raise revenue too

got it

have a nice day

simma down and GTFO.

Good idea CB. I'm in.

I think being able to see a running tally is a good idea. Let's people feel part of something, as well as inspire some who otherwise wouldn't have donated.

This, on top of sponsors, is what we should be doing.

Jimmy fought in many ways, one of his fights was to keep this club going, I think we owe it to him to fight for this club and make it as powerful as it can be.

If you can spare it, chuck in. If you can't then that is fine too, just don't rubbish the idea or the club because people want to help.

Spot on - well said.

Go for it Clint - your doing a great job. If you need help with anything - just ask- hopefully somebody who wants to help will assist.

Like the sentiment CB, but not so sure of the actual implementation/logisitics.

I too have jumped on board to show my support for the club's stance by donating $200 to the club through the major prize raffle.

A great way to donate money to the club and give yourself a chance to win $40k cold hard cash!

$100/member @ 30,000 members - an extra $3mil in revenue for the club.

Striker I'd think $50.00 dollars, so those who can't afford much will only hurt themselves a little,,,, Then those who can afford more could donate as many times over (anonymously) as they wish, ensuring there's no upmanship going about re bragging rights.

You know, we all in it together equally, and NO One, is bigger or better than anyone else's contribution.

A Co-Operative Dees...

Would it not be better to buy a membership instead of a straight donation?

If we had more memberships bought, it means the club gets closer to the 40k mark, which means it looks better to future sponsors etc

On the flip side the extras not renewing etc etc

Well done Clint, & I think it's a good wholehearted Idea.

It's nothing for some to get all tied up in knots about. I'm sure it would be a voluntary situation, donate anonymously IF you see fit??? Or as generous as you feel within.

Please delete this thread, was a silly idea.

Nah mate it's not a dumb idea. I love the idea, not for the money the club would reveice but for all the crap and bad news this club has received from all the media in the last month it would be great if a media outlet could pick this up and we the Joe blow supporters could show everyone that we still give a toss about this club and we are not going anywhere. I pay for mine and my families membership every year and I will give more to this cause Clint. Let's STICK IT RIGHT UP 'EM!

There are several ways in which this could be done. It could be done through direct donations to the club, or if you wanted to keep it independent from the club, through a trust.

Arsenal Football Club in the UK have a similar concept (http://www.arsenaltrust.org/) through which they have purchased shares in the club and provide a way for supporters to communicate with the club. They have organised question and answer sessions with the CEO and help keep the club accountable to fans.

Obviously Clint Bizkit's suggestion is based around financial support for the club, but it could be a way for supports to assist the club financially in exchange for greater transparency and communication with the club.

The biggest issues with the trust is setting up the terms of the trust and appointing a trustee/s, but it could definitely be done.

I like the idea off a trust account for the supporter base to give to the club, I myself would like to contribute more on a f/nightly basis when i can afford the extra 5 or 10 bucks, there'd b a lot like me who support and love our DEE'S but cannot really afford much but every little bit would help i reckon, it would be gr8 to watch a trust account grow, and get 2 c it buy or develop some real FOOTBALLERS…………….

an excellent idea CB & Gooner on arsenal trust acc, a share in the ownership of the club we love, mmmmmmm, i like the idea, obviously would take the right people to organise such a project tho, and finance is not my strong point, unless i can spend it.

Please have a red hot go this weekend lads, pls, show us ya willing.....

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
