Did anyone read in todays herald sun (sat 17/3 ) that Mark Neeld puts all melbouren players on notice

if they dont preform well or dont have a good attitude they will be sacked and dropped from the vfl.

Neeld has given brett Lovett the authority to do as he pleases with the melbourne players even have them play

in the vfl reserves .

S----t will we have a team to field come round one against the brisbane lions

Being "sacked" and "dropped to the VFL" are not even remotely the same thing. Given that I highly doubt he has any intention of "sacking" anyone then this headline is more than a little sensationalist.

Basically this boils down to "I'll drop players who aren't performing". Whoop-de-doo, I wouldn't expect any less.

PSD I not being smart but I would like to know who you think " the core nucleues of our solid group of senior players" will be?

Frawley, Grimes, Trengove, Jones, Howe, Clark & Bartram despite what people think of him. On top of that we will have Martin, Mckenzie, Blease who will progress IMO and other we will pick up along the way

PSD I guess it depends on your idea of what constitutes a senior player.

IMO it is 25+ years old, from your list we have quite a wait till your list reaches 25 let alone exceeds that age.

All that article says is that Melbourne players shouldn't automatically expect to play in Casey firsts if they're not performing, and Lovett will have final say.

RR I think you are correct in your assesment.

However he could have a player banished to the Casey Seconds for the year.

While that would not be techincally sacking him the effect would be the same.

But if he did do that, I would seriously question why the need to humiliate a player if he is not performing.There are smarter ways of reprimanding a player. Send him to Casey 1s and keep him there and if he does not correct weaknesses then trade/delist him at years end.

From reports I've read, including from Port supporters, Davey was one who gave at least an "honest" performance on the weekend.

Everyone reading too much into this, not even worth its own thread.

Cook played in Casey twos last year, as at various times did other Melbourne players - however, they were generally under an injury cloud, or coming back from injury.

I keep mixing up my posts on this thread and teh Where are we at thread but I am talking about these players starting to be the development of our nucleaus by the end of 2013 to 2014. I am very confident we will be in teh 8 by then.

It is from 2015 onwards we start looking top 4 and from there you need everything to fall into place. I know you think our list aint great but living in Perth I watch WAFL regulalry and have seen a lot of the development in players from both West Coast & Freo's list and believe me some of them who are now playing regulalry at these sides were not stand outs in the WAFL. Our big change will be in having a game plan which does make a huge difference don't underestimate it once the players learn it along with that the players I have put in the above list are honest players who will put their bodies on the line that will be part of the change in mindset and culture of teh list for years to come. Rome wasn't built in a day Old Dee!

Red & Blue Old Dee the Cardies or Falcons as they are called nowadays, when we came over from Ireland we were staying in Leederville and my father took me down to watch Claremont v West Perth the old boy decided he was a Claremont supporter so I went the other way. That Claremont side had some good players in it the Krakouer brothers, shorty Daniels, Graham Moss, Warren Ralph, Wayne Blackwell while we had Les Fong, Ross Gibbs (Bryce's father) the Duckworth boys to mention a few, teh good old Halcyon days of surburban footy

I think many of us have those kinds of fond memories. I grew up in the country, parked the car on the boundary line each Saturday afternoon, the smell of linamenet in the rooms before the game, tea and cake at half time from the boot of the car, the inspiring speech at 3/4 time from the local butcher - also coach - etc. etc.

There's a link here of the NT grand final, really worth a look if you're into "local" leagues. Players of all shapes and sizes, just playing footy.

Re all this as well, I live OS, and to get a bit of a footy fix, watch a fair bit of the other AFL teams as well. Perhaps some around here could try the same, it helps get a bit more perspective and objectivity on our beloved MFC and our players.
