Nicho first as per jt twitter

He also won the first one didn't he? If not he was right up at the pointy end. Good on him. Always liked his attitude so far. Potential Leader in time.

No surprises there...Will it translate into a spot on the main list?

Gawn's spot is up for grabs, and he seems to be leading the race.

Don't tell Sheedy that.

Next he'll be wanting to swap T$S$ for Nicho, someone who can run, kick, bump and tackle.

No doubt he'll get upgraded. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't we get the one freebie that everyone gets, one for only having one veteran and one to replace Gawn?

I believe that is the case.

However the new CBA apparently has no Veterans List per se, so I don't know what effects that will bring.

Mordja, Blease will never be in our top half a dozen runners just like Jones/Gysberts/Trengove will never be in our fastest half dozen players. As long as he can keep improving and maximise his endurance be happy. As mentioned you don't compare player against player you assess a players development and improvement on their own historical data. I would be extremely disappointed if Sam is fully healthy if he didn't beat his last time trial result. This would be the same for most of the players on our list including the top runners.

yep...so we are in violent agreement.

I hope the guys have improved their times, but lets not get too carried away with time trial results and preseason form in general. Last year it was Maric and Old Dee's mate #7 who were burning on the track and they had underwhelming years.

Spot on DemonWA.

Every year they are all wonderful until the first game comes around and we discover a whole lot of leopards have the same spots.

Are the times and order of finish to the time trials usually a secret.

If so, why ?

Sorry but I think that's a secret too!

I could tell you but then I would have to kill you then I would have to kill myself as well to ensure that the secret ends there, in fact WJ you may have to be disposed of also for even intimating that it may or may not be a secret.

Is having no Veteran's list so as not to "disadvantage" Vlad's two your darlings, GCS & GWS, who won't be bake to produce and Veterans for nigh a decade ???

Thought I resisted well.

Keep promising myself I will not comment on you know who till May.

But i doubt I will make it past April.

But I am trying to let him show something.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Was driving by Princess Park this morning and saw the boys out training so stopped for look. They had just finished the time trails with half the group do handballing drills while the other half were running warm down laps of the park.

I had a chat with some training staff, but unfortunately they were tight lipped on the finishing positions and times.

Lurker goldmine!

At least your first post gave us some info .

Welcome to the land of the ever hopeful .

"Cale Morton is an elite runner"

The amount of times I've heard that over the years is amazing.

Where did he finish in the run? Outside top five but does anybody know what position?

Possibly slowing down as a result of putting on all that weight recently.

The MFC site has an article on the time trials. - Nicholson tops time-trial

The article state that 23 out of 25 players improved their times from the last run.

while i agree that its been said thousands of times, and that cale has a lot of work to do, there are a lot of different types of runners. just because cale can run all day doesn't mean he will be near the top in a 3km time trial. i would expect him to come into his own over a longer distance.

The only way someone slows down/loses speed is by doing no running at all whilst building muscle through weight lifting.

It's an urban myth that one slows down by gaining muscle mass. Cale is running just as much as everyone else.

If you're talking marathon runner then one needs to ask, why was he picked at number 4 in an AFL draft to play football?

What attributes does he have? Non-physiological ones so don't use 'height' as one. I am so interested in why people rate him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
