For me it's the three big Jacks. Watts, Grimes, and Trengove. These three (should they stay injury free) will stamps themselves as the real deal in 2012.

I'd love to see Trengove and Watts dominate. These are the 2 players we have with potential to be top 10 players in the AFL, they have a few seasons now and 50+ games, so the time is right.

Jurrah I am looking forward to having a really great season, with Mitch Clark and Watts a year older, Jurrah will be able to play to his strengths, which does NOT involve being the number one marking target. Let the kid roam around the field and be at his creative best.

Of the youngsters, I would love to see Davis blooded regularly as a third tall defender and Tom McDonald as a key forward

Rohan Bail running amok in the midfield. Every time he plays I think we are a much better structured side because of his ability to run and link play. Dan Nicholson, without the same polish (to date) is similar and I hope to see more of him this year, too.

I'm looking forward to seeing how track form translates in to football form for the likes of Nicholson and McDonald. I'd expect those two to be playing NAB round 1 and that they'll have been pushed aside by H&A round 1, but it'll be interesting how it pans out.

In terms of players who will (or should) be in the best 22, I'm most looking forward to seeing how Watts, Howe and Clark go.

im really looking forward to the clark watts jurrah forward set up, its a great position to be in when u read other ppls posts and someone says grimes then someone says trenners then bail then howe then tmac and im constantly changing my mind!! i dont like getting to caught up in the hype but geez im looking forward too this season, i know not many in the footy world DONT rate the NAB cup but my god id love to win it, ill take any sucess at this point of time!!!

All of the above (which is exactly Howe [sic] it should be at this time of year!). But for me, what I'm looking forward to most, is seeing how we structure up in 2012, and how consistently effective it proves to be.

We seem to have the best array of talent in our forward half that I can remember for many years. Who will be the mainstays in 2012, and will they be good enough to consistently kick competitive scores, even against the better teams?

Our midfield lacks class compared to many teams, but will the addition of a couple of new faces, and some different set-ups, enable us to win our share of stoppages, and consistently deliver the ball to the advantage of the team?

Our defence has been our strongest unit for several years, usually under pressure from far too many opposition entries. Who (if anyone) will force their way into this solid group, and at whose expense?

This list could obviously go on and on, but that's my drift.

Suffice to say that how we progress in 2012, should provide us with a good indicator as to how far we might progress in the years beyond. Will we become a force (?), or will our long awaited 'window' be effectively closed before it is opened? So much intrigue, so much anticipation, so much potential excitement. Bring it on!

We won two last year...

Both were those mickey mouse half games against Adelaide and Port who turned out to be as bad as us in 2011.

I agree with most of your comments Deeoldfart.

But I must say my enthusiasm is well under control.

Too often I have felt similar to your above comments to be in the pit of despair by the end of May.

In a lot of ways Jan and Feb are often the best time of the year for Dees supporters.

Please let this year be the exception to the rule.
