BROWNLOW QUESTION

I reckon Gary Hardeman would have to be there. The Umps loved him.

Who are MFC's top 10 Brownlow votegetters of all time?

Have a go. They are from the late 40's and upwards so you don't have to include the really ancient Demons.

Ivor Warne-Smith won his 2 Brownlows when only 1 vote was given to the B.O.G . He received 8 and 9 votes in those two years . Equivalent to 24 and 27 ? . Fairly sure he polled well in other years .

Al Nicholson, Matty Warnock, Isaac Weetra, Michael Newton, Shannon Motlop, Ryan Ferguson, Nick Smith, Luke Molan, Simon Godfrey and the obligatory answer of Jack Watts would have to be the top ten from my time.

From the thread title I thought that dear Mr Dumbitriou was about to make an announcement:

" the rules committee has decided that this year's medal votes will be determined on a new exciting advanced scientific analysis, made by myself and Mr Anderson, on what would have been the most likely voting on any given day had all potential players been available. Now we must emphasize, before there is any speculation, that this decision was made before the unfortunate injury to this year's favorite, namely 3votes, C Judd, Carltank. "

Yes, he was right up there! OK, Robbie Flower was 1st with 150 votes. Who do people think came next? It wasn't Ron Barassi.

Good try! A little more research required. Love your wit.

I guess we have all forgotten what at least I see as the most bizzare draft selections of all time; I can't remember if it was late Balme or early um, et, umm Daniher ...... that is of course the Cockatoo-Colin's twins, a pair of galahs if you ever saw them ( which was pretty rarely). Does anyone remember who was the recruiting manager at the time?

Bluey Adams or Stan Alves

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits.
