Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Interesting theory...interested on your reasoning that Sydney will slide drastically down the ladder while St Kilda play in september again

I listed Sydney as sliding because they will not have the A grade goodes forever and i just dont think they have a team on the rise. As for the saints i think they will have one more year in the 8 with a fit lenny back for 2012. Just my thoughts.

I think the Pies performance in

2011 GF is the start of a decline for them. I'm also of convinced about Buckley , and they do have serious salary cap issues. I'd put them fourth. Also I think you are bring optimistic in seeing Essendon sliding so far. My ladder would be:

Geelong

Hawthorn

Collingwood

West Coast

Carlton

Fremantle

Melbourne

Adelaide

Essendon

St Kilda

North

Sydney

Dogs

Tigers

Gold Coast

Port.

Brisbane

Judd just did a shoulder at training. Blues hopes will be dashed. No key forward and no Judd for most of the year by the sounds of it.

Well, according to the news report I read yesterday after it happened, they (Carlton) were fairly confident he would be fit in time for the beginning of season 2012. Still, I suppose it means he will begin the year without the benefit of a full pre-season, which means he will only be superb instead of his usual brilliant :-)

Now being reported that Judd will miss 4 months with shoulder injury.

I guess this finally justifies Hawthorn's decision not to take him with Pick 1 in 2001 draft because of concerns about his shoulders.

(As an aside, I heard Dermott Brereton on SEN a couple of months ago saying Hawthorn would have picked him with their first pick in 2000 if he'd been eligible then for the draft but by 2001 because of concern about his shoulders decided on Luke Hodge)

Interesting views. Seems like the top 6 are set in stone, although theres always a surprise....that leaves 8 teams fighting for the last 2 spots and 4 for the spoon....(come on Tom)....I do see us as in the fight for the 8 with a similar type season, results wise, to 2010. Back to being competitive with most teams and back to a 50 point loss at Geelong, and a few of the inevitable close loses that are always associated with a rise in performance.

I think we will win around 10 games ,finish around the same as this year , maybe 12th. Therefore, just a very slight improvement , but with a great movement up the ladder in 2013.

I see the Dees playing at the MCG in 2012.

Beyond that who the hell knows!

Good one O.D.

We think alike.

No Chrystal ball in this house, although I'd like to think that Adelaide wont make it because of the turnover of players. Surely they will miss Sellars too much!!?

I definately think Melbourne can win up to 12 games- the key to them making the finals though is keeping the bleeding in the losses to a minimum as i think with so many crap sides at the bottom winning less than six games there's a chance a team could miss the finals despite having a winning record- the round 2 game away to West Coast will give a great indication of what Mark Neeld's Demons are made of.

In around the eight, realisticly probably just miss out but hope to see more consistancy and be happy with 20 odd more games into all the young brigade... Also fingers crossed we can get a whole season out of my main man Grimes

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
