Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ok its been done a million times but i will put forward what Neelds best 22 might be:

B: Tapscott, Frawley, Garland

HB: Rivers, Martin, Grimes

C: Trengove, Moloney, Bail

HF: Green, Sellar, Sylvia

F: Howe, Clark, Jurrah

FOLL: Jamar, Bate, Jones

INTR: Davey, Petterd, Nicholson, Blease

EMRG: Gysberts, Macdonald, Mckenzie.

I know ppl will be saying why Bate. i believe we will see a new Matty Bate. Neeld rates this guy and with some good coaches Bater will rise.

Gee DF you have Sellar in the team straight away.

The bloke's damaged goods and will need to have an Ingerson like reserection first.

And that team's forward line looks a bit sus untill Clark can prove himself.

Watts and McKenzie in the above two out. And Gys also says hello!

Like how many people have Flash in the forward line. Don't understand everyone assuming Stef can play CHB. Tap and MacDonald are stiff here, both can come in if Bartram misses three sitters again like he did against WC, and Gys for Morton if he still refuses to go hard, but this would be the most exciting lineup for mine.

OK OK.... Watts in instead of Nicholson. Mark Neeld stated Sellar will come straight in to the team Dee Dee, get your facts right. Watts does not have the physical presence, he is more of a Flanker. Look at the pies and hawks they atleast have 2 big bodied forwards ( Cloke, Dawes, Roughead, Franklin, Hale). We have now got Clark and Sellar to work with our abundance of pocket/ flank forwards. We got absolutley anhilated this year due to our lack of big strong bodied forwards. Im not saying he will be the match winner but now we look much better with 2 big boys in the forward line

B: Nicholson Martin Garland

HB: Blease Frawley MacDonald

C: Bail Jones Morton

HF: Sylvia Watts Howe

FF: Petterd Clark Davey

F: Jamar Grimes Trengove

INT: Gysberts Bate McKenzie Jurrah (sub)

Other points.

Sellar won't play unless injuries or talls being rested.

Grimes must play midfield if we're going to get true benefit from him.

Bennell could well replace a number on this list

Jetta is a smoky

Jurrah will need to do a stack of work to remain in the side.

Jurrah will need to do a stack of work to remain in the side.

Imagine that. Even on his worst day Jurrah is more than capable of being in the right place at the right time at least a couple of times.

Fast forward to a Jurrah that is desperate to be included in the selected team, and demands everyone know it on the day. Scary.

Bartram (runs hard and is tough) Frawley (tough and hard at the ball) Garland (hard at the ball and contests all the time)

MacDonald (tough and hard at the ball) Sellar (big body and hopefully will contest hard) Tapscott (strong and hard at the ball)

Grimes (brave as hell and attacks the ball) Moloney (big body and attacks the ball) Bail ( runs hard and attacks the ball)

Sylvia (tough and hard when fit) Clark (big strong and aggressive) Trengove (fearless and attacks the ball)

Howe (getting fitter, stronger and attacks the ball) Martin (big and strong and jumps and runs hard) Jetta (works hard and attacks the ball)

Jamar (big body and jumps hard) McKenzie (tackles hard and attacks the ball) Jones (strong and relentless at the ball)

Bate ( stronger and fitter and attacks the ball) T Mcdonald (real big and strong and attacks everything) Nicholson (runs hard and getting stronger) Taggert (will be strong and will attack the ball)

Its all about strong bodies and work rate

Not in 2012, I doubt he will play anywhere before May with his injury.

I am a huge Jared Rivers fan but I reckon Tom McDonald will take his place this year.

I hate leaving Tappy out but it is unlikely he will be fully match fit by round 1

We lack a small crumbing forward - Jetta may sneak into the side in this role

I had Gysberts in but Petterd is more consistent and has better skills so far in his career, so had to swap them.

I reckon Bate, Gysberts, McKenzie, Blease and Nicholson may spend a lot of the year battling each other for a spot.

Max Gawn is a huge chnace to play if they settle Martin in a spot.

Now I've been wrong before, but doesn't Dan Nicholson need to be elevated off the rookie list before he can be in anyones best 22.

No spots for new draftees; or Jarrah and Davey until they prove themselves. Morton is gone. I rate Clarke more as a CHF than a FF. Howe has played plenty as a FF (in Tas).

Ed: rookies excluded

Ed 2: replaced Watts the 2nd  with Nicholson, presuming he will be elevated

We only have one veteren. (Green) Therfore we can upgrade a rookie prior to round 1 without having to put someone on the long term injury list. Judging from interviews and training reports then Nicholson is firmly in the lead for the upgrade.

i agree watts will be in the best 22 but i think you're asking a lot of him to play both wing and forward pocket at the same time mono ;)

In 2012 there may not be a "best 22" at all. It may depend to a large extent on who we're playing.

Against a tall forward line, our "best 22" could include Sellar, with he and Martin in defence.

To avoid being outmuscled in the midfield again, we'll load up with muscle, and our "best 22" could include Bate, Tapscott, even MacDonald or Bartram in the midfield.

If we need speed, we load up with speed - Blease, Bennell, Jetta.

And whatever games Gys & Bennell manage to get, I bet they won't play against Hawks or Pies for the next 2 or 3 years.

I bet we'll be much more strategic. More players will have specific roles, we'll put a lot more effort into countering opponents' strengths & exploiting their weaknesses and select accordingly.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
