Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

wow look at the Aints numbers. That is terrible. They have a huge supporter base. Maybe moving from moorabbin and all that happened this year has finally tipped them.

I have heard many negative rumbles about the seaford move.

Scott Watters has a big job like Neeld. They both sound very alike when interviewed interestingly. But to have only 14k membership at this stage after launching the 2012.campaign is not great, stiff [censored]. Go Demons!!

Saints and dogs could struggle big time in the coming years...... they barley had 40 and 35K respectively when playing off in prelims for years and years.....lets see them when they are sitting 15-18, not good times one feels

If we can get 40K after what happened last year, then we can legitimately expect 50K imo if we ever go top 2-4 again with this list

Lack of self-awareness here by Dees supporters talking about members, supporters, and survival.

Yeh people in glass houses etc, etc. However we have been rubbish for the past how many years...? Saints have played in GFs and been a dominant side during that time. As far as memberships, they should be aiming to compete with the bigger clubs as opposed to clubs like us, north and the doggies.

Looks like Hawthorn have hit the 40,000 mark already - fair effort......

Don't go quoting Hawthorn Memberships. How many memberships sold does not equate to B$%S on seats. They have a history of buying loads of the cheapest members tickets and leaving them in their desk drawers. Also they have several thousand Taswegians buying 3 game tickets also included.

It would be interesting to see what percentage of memberships sold, actually go to games.

After all the Scully [censored] saga, we seem to have had a dream run of club action and media publicity relative to probably all other clubs covered in the Melbourne press. So it seems a little disappointing that we are not much ahead of last year. Or was last year an unusually high membership enrolment year, built on the hopes of a very promising young team coming into a window of high performance from the 2011 season (cough cough)? I know last year I was feeling a lot more excited about our prospects than I had for many years.

So, can anyone advise how the trend of membership enrolments normally runs? I mean, can someone do a mathematical analysis of the trends? Anyone here with a stats bent - this is a call to get your rocks off on this question.

Do we see a steady rate of uptake from the start of pre-season up till (say) game 5 or 10? Or is it characterised by faster and slower periods?

I remember in particular the gut-wrenching feel of the WCE game around round 5-6(?) this year (corrections welcome), and posting that I thought it would have a big impact on the trend of membership uptakes from then on. But I have no idea how it panned out.

And if there is a heterogeneous rate of uptake, when or what do you think will be a major catalyst to cause an uptick (or downslide) in the rate of membership enrolments between now and when they call stumps on membership nos. for the 2012 season?

Just noticed updated membership at 21927. At 24 Jan 2011 we were 22396. Given all the changes (for the good- hopefully) I would have thought this years membership would have been ahead of the tally for 2011. Surely this is disappointing.

We're not at 24th of Jan yet.

yeah it is dissapointing, l thought we would be 25,000 by now. We started off strongly but have really slowed down over the last month.

Nit picker

Ho hum. You're the one who said it was disappointing, yet we may be slightly in front. Which in fact, was the case just before Christmas observing the timeline comparisons. Any "really slowed down over the last month" barbs aren't really as accurate as some might believe.

Maybe, just maybe if they sent out the forms that some asked for to change their membership when asked 4 times and started the AP incorrectly when I had already sent back the form to stop it, they might get more members.

At this rate they won't be getting my money

this is a serious problem that needs attention. If the club are direct debiting accounts they must get it right first time, nobody likes money going to the wrong place. I would go into the club and speak directly, unless of course you live ina different city. Good luck

I understand the frustration but aren't the memberships all sold out of a central AFL office (I could be wrong). Don't punish the club for the incompetence of some office temps.

Comparative Update:

24th Jan 2011 - 22,396.

24th Jan 2012 - 22,195.

- 201 on same time last year.

Down on last year but still seems like a respectable total.

Leading up to the season in 2011 we were coming off a promising year and hoping to build on that and play finals.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
