Sheedy accuses Demons

The senile old man is at it again. The story is on the SEN website and it's surprising it didn't get wider coverage as it's possibly the most outrageous thing he's said yet.

...but when asked about reports Scully had serious issues with his knees after an injury-interrupted 2011, he fired a shot back at the Melbourne Football Club.

"I think there's a lot of people possibly from ... that may have frustrated in (him) leaving Melbourne, that might be sending out those overtures," Sheedy told Melbourne radio station SEN.

So he's accusing us of spreading rumours that Scully has a bung knee.

Sheeds really has a chip on his shoulder. Surely the AFL should be concerned that this senile old man is heading up their new team?

It will be very interesting to see whether T$ does a full preseason and how many games he plays next season.

I heard that I/V live and noted that comment.

Sheedy's not finished. He's doing what he's employed to do which is to drum up publicity for the fledgling outfit because it needs to stay at the forefront of the news. The AFL and GWS are, after all, trying to crack a very difficult market.

Melbourne would be wise not to take the bait and to simply ignore Sheedy's allegations. The club has no obligation and is probably prevented for ethical reasons from divulging information about the medical records of any player.

For the record, I heard the stories about the problem with Scully's knee long before he announced his move to GWS and my source was from someone in the medical fraternity who claimed the basis of his information was impeccable. The source was not related to the Melbourne Football Club.

What I can also say is that I attended a dinner in late August and some MFC players, including Scully, were there and when Tom was asked about his knee, he said:

"Some weeks it's good and some weeks it's not."

Whether it affects his career or not will be determined in the fullness of time but my reading of Sheedy's comments is that the state of the knee remains a concern.

Sheehy says "So we'll find out and we'll see and hopefully he'll be a fantastic player for our club."

Seriously, the guy is doing his job but it's just plain wierd.

Judd is worth Judd money...Ablett is worth Ablett money.

TS deserves a very good (but not this crazy) 2-3 year contract bridging the gap b/w potentially great and great.

I reckon he'll be an excellent player but "hopefully" is a bit of a wierd thing to say about a guy on 2 mill in 2012

I would have thought that if there was no truth to the rumours about Scully's knee then GWS would release some vision of him going flat out at training. I've seen pictures of some of the Giants players at training including one of Junior sprinting but not Scully.

I don't wish him a bad knee but Sheedy seems to be hiding something and it would be so easy easy for him to prove that Scully's knee is fine and dandy.

Totally out of Melbourne's hands now.

GWS offered him $6 million, so totally in their hands now.

For that money you'd hope they'd have done due diligence. ^_^

Well, I'm yet to meet a young one :-)

It really doesn't matter what Sheedy says as, true or not, TS is at their club now and no-one stands to gain (or lose) anything by Melbourne spreading such rumours if as he claims, they were unfounded.

I suppose there is the slightest of chances that the injury was fabricated as a reason for dropping him if knowledge existed at the time of his upcoming defection, but that is highly unlikely - I do recall there were however, a few of the "TS is leaving" camp, who did actually espouse that theory... maybe it's not just Sheedy who is barking mad? ;-)

There was also an article by dr larkins raising some concern. I dont think he is an employee of the MFC.

No but Peter shares a practice with Andrew Daff who was.

What sh!ts me the most DC is that these d!ckheads have come in, totally stuffed everything behind the scenes as this Club was trying to get off the ground. Now the AFL are stepping in to fix the mess, which will no doubt involve pouring money in to it, they won't lose the players they've picked up, all for the sake of the AFL not looking like complete tools.

The AFL will do "whatever it takes" to keep this rust bucket afloat (with your money)

Why is it 'highly unlikely' that a fabrication - whoeverso generated it - of that sort might've occurred?

I guess it's as 'highly unlikely' as the original assertions by the TS is staying crowd that the boy wonder would never depart.

The gall to call out those few of us who were on to it from day dot as 'barking mad' is hilarious.

Not as funny as to fantasise what the issue is/was even when it has been clearly explained a number of times.

The issue is that the artist formerly known as Range Rover can lay claim to the greatest victory in the history of Demonland.

This has been brought up a number of times but it is worth mentioning again.

I would have thought that you would've at least managed to develop a thicker skin by now RangeRover. Just a couple of things in an effort to placate the bruising to your sensibilities:

Firstly, the reason I used the words "highly unlikely" was because as I understand it, TS has a history relating to said knee issue that goes back to his days in junior football (or was that fabricated as well?).

Secondly, the term "barking mad" was directed as a question to those who are insisting Sheedy has lost it... that is, if Sheedy is mad for suggesting this, then by extension, they must have believed that those in the "TS is leaving" camp, were also losing it.

I dont think its over the top to think that the Dee's held scully back. It could have been two fold - Dont let him show his worth so that people wouldnt try to poach him, and keep him on ice so that he's 100% ready to go if he had have stayed

There is nothing wrong with what he said. He doesn't accuse MFC of anything.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
