Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Wonderful comedy ,,, the humour is very quick and slick so it's easily revisited. 10 episodes in the 1st series and each episode goes for between 10 and 20 minutes. Youtube has all of the episodes up. (I believe)

Or you could just find it all on thesite:

I've watched a fair few of the webisodes but didn't think it was anything too exciting.

Have only watched four so far ... Alec Baldwin, Michael Richards, Larry David and Ricky Gervais. Found all of them to be very funny.

The Michael Richards one was very honest and quite moving. He touches on life after that 'nightclub incident'. The show isn't for everyone but the fans of Seinfeld will probably quite like it.

It's tricky finding good new comedy these days. It's there if you look hard enough. I never miss Saturday Night Live, The Daily Show, Real Time With Bill Maher and the 'Tonight' shows are always good for a laugh.

Conan, Letterman, Leno, Craig Ferguson and Jimmy Kimmel can all have their moments. Jimmy Fallon is very very talented and his show is good fun. All last week he had Justin Timberlake on and their 'History of Rap 4' was fantastic ... here it is (from last week) ....

I rate Seinfeld and Seinfeld co-creator Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm as my top sitcoms, but I found Comedians In Cars pretty pedestrian (no pun intended).

That moment with Richards did stick in my mind though.

Here's one for the politically minded ...Haven't had a chance to have a look at it yet but have heard some very good reports. It's available on netflix but there may be other sources ...

A UK version was made way back in 1990 starring Ian Richardson. Not sure how closely related the 2 shows are but some critics have compared the new version quite favourably.

... House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey

Francis Underwood is Majority Whip. He has his hands on every secret in politics - and is willing to betray them all to become President.

Just watched the first episode. It is outstanding in every sense of the word. Fist of all I'd like to say, Kevin Spacey is amazing. He's not the dull politician we're used to seeing, he's a deeply written character with nuances to his actions and speaking. You can definitely see Fincher's style in the first episode, at least. It contains some of the similar themes he has tackled before in his film and adds to those.
He crafts the story very tightly woven and complex. Kate Mara is also great, she adds to the list of modern Fincher characters. I love the points of satire in Spacey's character and some of the symbolism used. The show is outstanding in every aspect, unlike a lot of other political dramas on TV, can't wait to watch the next episodes.

Not sure if anyone has stumbled across "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" yet but it's a must view.

My only criticisms are that the episodes don't go for long enough and there's not enough of them. The Michael Richards episode is absolutely brilliant.

Had not gotten into Game of Thrones until recently. While there is some guff involved I am deep down looking forward to seeing season 3.

The Walking Dead is one I've loved since day one but good lord it can be a hard watch. Very graphic, and they do some stupid stupid things but again can't wait to get into each new episode.

Just bought Carnivale set, once get through TWD seasons will jump into that too.

Game of Thrones.

Season 3.

Episode 9.

You have killed television for me. You are the worst thing I have ever witnessed and now I not only hate all forms of entertainment media, I also hate life.

You should have come with a warning. You didn't. You are the worst.

I've managed to get my hands on the latest season of Arrested Development. I must say I'm a little disappointed so far after watching the first few episodes. Maybe my expectations where too high?

In any case I did watch the start of one of the later episodes which opened with Tobias. I only saw about a minute, but it had me laughing all day, so there's hope yet.

As part of the new season they've started a website for Tobias' acting resume insertmeanywhere.biz Definitely worth a look, the first video on the page is hilarious.

'Orphan Black' looks to be a good new Sci-fi action/drama.

A Canadian production, the show is fast moving with lots of twists.

From some of the reviews ...

This is not your regular Scfi show where we know all the protagonists and villains in the first episodes. It's just high voltage, very hip and modern television. It also has great music and mind-twisting story lines mixed with witty dialogue.

The story unfolds like a good book would unfold layer after layer. Not only is Orphan Black well written, serving up some of the best performances on TV of late, it provides an unflinching look into the human mind

Oz - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118421/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_1

Probably the best TV Show I have ever seen. Set in a fictional US maximum security prison based on Sing Sing. There are no external shots (except for a dream sequence in season 4 I think) so it has kind of a claustrophobic feel. The music is.. off-putting, which is probably intentional. They don't want you to be comfortable while you watch.

There are no innocent inmates. The show manipulates you into caring about murderers, you see their humanity and their depravity - both extremes often encapsulated in the same character.

The themes centre around humanity, faith, sex, crime, race, society and hope. Quite a few episodes serve as treatments for American societal issues, often without condemning or condoning one side of an issue over another.

And there's some Shakespeare thrown in for good measure.

Episodes range from brutal to beautiful (in a strange way, it's hard to describe). Not for the squeamish as it can be quite graphic, but it is artistically justified. At no point does it cross the line of 'graphic violence for it's own sake' - it's always there as part of the narrative or to facilitate a character arc.

I'm re-watching the series for the third time currently. My wife refuses to watch it with me. She says she can't take the 'heaviness' of it. I guess that's as good a word as any to describe it.

It's not really current, I think it started in the late 90's and went for 6 seasons, but it's well worth watching.

Oliver Stone's Untold History of the United States is an interesting 10 part mini series (in documentary form) The episodes focus on everything from WW2 through to the Cold War, JFK, Nixon, Vietnam, the Bush's and Obama.

Some quotes from a few people who liked it ...

Mainstream history is truly written by the those in a position of dominance, and to find out what really happened you have to dig deep and have an open mind, and that is what Oliver Stone has pulled off in abundance!

History itself, and memories in general, inherit the bias of the observer. Further retelling, teaching, and writing of the event also serve to inject patriotism, nationalism, bias and opinion into the mix. This documentary series does well to attempt to strip out all of that, and to see the grey beyond just the black and white.

What's refreshing in this 10 hour mini-series is that it can inspire inquiry and rebooted thought. Not revisionism, but a re-visitation and educational path toward illumination and possibly in some cases enlightenment. There never is one side to any story and reflection, curiosity, and interest in events that shaped our world can never be a bad thing. Except, maybe, for those who benefit from the status quo.

I'm about to start from Episode 1 but the gf keeps putting it off. I might just have to jump in without her.

Just finished Season 2 of Walking Dead. Love it!

That's what I do. My girlfriend can't binge watch like I can. I prefer having shows that I watch just with her and then the shows that I can steam through.

You gotta do 'Breaking Bad'. It's certainly one of the greatest shows ever made.

I watched the first season of 'The Walking Dead' when it first came out. I was kind of meh on it. Still am. Haven't bothered to jump back into it, although the girlfriend loves it.

If you haven't seen the following, highly recommended: 'The Shield', 'Damages', 'Mad Men', 'Sons of Anarchy' (created by one of the co-writers of 'The Shield'), 'Oz', 'The Wire' & 'The Sopranos' (both are good, but overrated), 'Justified' and then the classic that started it all, 'Twin Peaks'.

So many shows to watch... so little time.

The early parts of TWD season 2 are a little slow but middle to end is great.

I've just hooked up Netflix so I can chop and change between watching my own shows on the Mac, the iPad and AppleTV. So handy

The problem I find with the walking dead is I keep watching it waiting for it to cross the line from 'solid' to 'awesome' but it never quite does. The characters often make really really dumb decisions. The good definitely outweighs the bad after season 2 though, as low flying said :)

Completely agree on Mad Men, Oz, Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy.

I'll have to give the wire a go, although I heard it sort of lost it towards the end.

For fans of the show 'Breaking Bad', here are the podcasts from nearly all the episodes (all except season 1 by the looks of it) The podcast for the latest episode that was aired in the States was released just yesterday (season 5 episode 15)

Hosted by the Editor of the show, Kelley Dixon, the podcasts have regular guest appearances from the shows writers, actors and the creator, Vince Gilligan. The featured guests are very careful in not giving out any 'spoilers' and on a whole, the podcasts are a fascinating insight into the whole make-up of the show.

You can click on any episode you like once you click on the link below (depending of course, on how far you're into the series) The podcasts are all quite lengthy (usually around about an hour and a half long)

If you want to watch something great, do yourself a favour and watch Prisoners of War.

It's the show Homeland is based on (Homeland is amazing, but doesn't come close to this show), and is about to start filming its 3rd season.

I watched the entire 2nd season in one weekend.

Season 2 starts on SBS this week, and season 1 is available on DVD.

If you love suspense, drama, and watching people getting beaten up, watch it.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
