Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bombers are shockers for putting up trash for quality!

The mediation was the Bombers putting the spin on it to their fans that they did everything possible to land Caddy.

Pick 19 and either a broken down KPF or average at best 2nd or 3rd string defender..............that must have been so enticing for the Suns considering Caddy was a pick 7 in a strong draft, and according to Terry Wallace would be around a pick 4 in this years draft.

Absolute fools!

It will be interesting to follow Caddy's progress next season. So too the Bombers under Hird for that matter.

It will be interesting early next year if we activate the two compensation picks. From our position right now, I think we probably should activate one at least. And perhaps keep one up our sleeve for trade. They are worth their weight in gold come trade time as a bargianing tool. And if there is no trade. There is always 2013-14-15 as options.

The latest hearld sun article on the Caddy trade highlights the suspicious nature of the dealings.

Caddy wanted to come to Melbourne for his sick dad but were told to do a deal with Essendon EXCLUSIVELY. Hence no joy for MFC or the Tiggers.

And so the truth comes out. Another example of the underhanded, manner in which Essendon like to conduct business these days.

I couldn't be happier with the result when everything is considered.....!

As I said a few times, if he wanted to come to us a deal would have been done using a compo pick as the base. Stuffed himself. If he was fair dinkum about coming home you would give several victorian options to the GC to deal with. GC obviously smelled a rat and exterminated it. Dons got what they deserved, ratsack. Keep lying you are very good at it, the Coach, senior assistant Coach, CEO, President, the gambling assistant coach etc.

Pretty naive and silly of his manager if his intention was to get home, but apparently GC asking price was also a little steep. Interesting to see what happens next year because GC may have to be a little more attentive to offers.

Day, Prestia and a couple of others have already signed extensions.

There may not be the out-of-contract fire sale that some seem to expect.

I'm not sure Caddy's hand will be any stronger if he is out of contract - the teams with low picks in the PSD will likely be interstate clubs, so he won't be able to take that route.

Once again I think we'll be in a stronger position than Essendon.

I reckon we've left ourselves in an extremely strong position and am quietly happy we didn't snare Caddy this year. He will quite likely make his way home next year anyway and will probably be cheaper given he will be OOC. Also, there is likely to be another 17yo mini-draft in which we may be able to snare another O'Meara. Or we can use the picks to go hard at another OOC mid like Pendlebury, Gaff etc. Or failing that, two first rounders plus Viney in a strong draft is a pretty good result.

The Bombers CEO Ian Robson makes me laugh.

He drew comparison to us picking up Clark with a pick 12 as means to justify what they were offering to Caddy as fair.

Clark was uncontracted, wanted to go home to a two team town, where only one of the teams was really interested in getting him, and that team was offering a pick later pick than ours.

We simply had to convince the player to come to us, and our pick was superior...............if anything pick 12 for Clark is a steal compared to the Ottens trade a few years ago.

Caddy wants to come back to Melbourne, is contracted, but wants to deal with the Bombers exclusively...................is it any wonder the Suns did what they did?

If Caddy really wanted to come home, he would have said to the Suns deal with any Melbourne club to get me home, then the Bombers would have found out straight away there offer was junk.

The Bombers have taken the Suns for fools, and in the process have confirmed that they are indeed the foolish ones.

In 12 months time it won't probably matter as they can potentially pick him up for nothing, but it's still great to see them crash and burn like this.

The Bombers are finding themselves in nowhere land with an average list with significant deficiencies. They wont be expecting to finish low enough to get early picks any time soon - the picks they will have are going to be 10+ for the foreseeable future. Free agency may help them snare a good player but he'll be towards the end of his career, they'll struggle to top up on great young talent like Caddy because forcing those players into the draft isn't really an option with other clubs lurking with earlier picks. Let's look on the bright side though, they may get some compo picks for Hurley when he goes to GWS as an uncontracted player next year.

I heard him on SEN this morning trying to convince everyone that they had conducted themselves with the utmost integrity, yeah right.

We can now see how he goes over the next season and if he's ok we can go after him, if he's not weve saved a draft pick.

RobbieF is this the same Essendon that employed Hird while telling Knights he had their support.

Is this the same Essendon that hired Thompson while he was still coach of Geelong and said they had not spoken.

Integrity my arse.

Yep. Biggest load of crap PR spin i heard.

When asked why Caddy and himself only wanted GC to deal with Essendon when he had more chance to come home by opening himself to all clubs.

Said it was a delicate situation with Caddy's family. Hoped for some compassionate ground but didn't want to complicate things with other clubs.

RRRRRight. How is it complicated? Caddy wants to come home. He should be happy to play for any vic team that satisfies GC.

Agree with all of the above - it's pretty hard to have any sympathy for Essendon. I find it delightful that the two clubs that tried to play sneaky buggers got burned this year. There's a lot to be said for being direct and easy to deal with - let that be a lesson to all the posters who insist we play "hard ball" during trade week or in contract negotiations (admittedly this has waned in recent years).

I hope that Maric gets picked up by GW$ and North miss out on the freebee they thought they'd get.

This is an article in the HUN today about it and I dont think I've read a greater load of [censored] from a football manager since Ricky Nixon was trying to defend hinmself after he lost his pants in a Motel room.

Agree. When it became public knowledge on monday or tuesday, why weren't other victorian clubs allowed to trade for him then. Dees and Tigers were told no deal by Caddy and his management and that he would only go to Bombers. He was not fair dinkum about coming home and that is all there is to it.

Yes, well done to GC - they saw through the BS very early and didn't falter with the PR heat.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
