I couldnt give a flying what he says.

I also dont cringe when people mention the ski season.

People are too thin skinned.

Good for you Rhino-perhaps you could share the cement you obviously had a cup of?

Ski season doesn't phase me. Clubs hanging sh!t because we are soft, well, I question why the playing group doesn't change that view.

Its a beat up. Until last Sunday every time they came up against a top side in the past 4 to 5 years they have failed the test.

Tags on sides are for people who want to believe such things.

You dont think MFC are perceived as soft over the last years ?

I dont give a hoot for the perception of our supporters - thats a nonsense - I am talking about how the team has been viewed.

Even when north has been beaten they have usually had a culture of giving it a shot.( there are games that exceptions).

Even Richo always considered us easy even though we dont have a bad record against the Tigers.

I am convinced that for the last 5 years opposition players have thought of us easy.

Edit - when North has failed the comment thrown at them has been that they might not have the talent. The comments about us has not been about the talent but the heart and effort

I just dont get antsy of media "tags".

When North get beat, they get beat like any other side and much vaunted shinboner spirit has gone missing like the spirit goes in any other side. And there record shows that to be the case. But I can see you have bought the "culture" that is perpetrated and is not necessarily fact.

I tell you what I am convinced we have been easy as well over the past 5 years. It could be assessed any other way. I dont need media to tell me that and I dont go into a meltdown when the Media runs a disposable forgettable article.

Dont lose sleep on the media stuff. I just want the Club to focus on doing all things necessary to improve

I dont give a rats about media either.

I want teams to perceive us hard and the only way to be thought hard is to be hard which we are not

You dont think clubs buy other clubs "culture" or tag ?- even in their dark days nobody won down at Kardinia park because Geelong was too hard to beat down there. There can be over confidence but I think since the Bailey days teams know we will crumble. I would prefer to go into a game knowing we will win as opposed to having doubts.I dont think teams doubt that they will beat us.

It will take at least 5 years of good football to be taken seriously.

I understand why we dont have "respect".

We are still in for a bumpy ride.

I guess thats exactly what i dream of- respect.

And i agree on the bumps

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we can all get together on this one......

That and the fact that Mr Morton needs to lift is game all over the park this weekend and beyond.

May have run hard but continually crucifies us with poor disposal (handballs and kicks directly to opposition or not to advantage of teammates) that leads to turnovers, much of which is due to a lack of composure under pressure. Only reason to keep playing him is to hope he plays some half 'reasonable' games so we can trade him at year end.

Much better today - was very pleased with elements of his game. Needs to still work on his decision making, needs to improve that aggression around the contest - but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Keep improving Cale

He made some skill errors but much improved game from Cale today. Ran harder to create space than anyone out there. 21 touches (8 contested) but most importantly 6 clearances and 6 tackles.

He contested. It's all we ask for. Well, I.

Chook backed him hard this week and I reckon he was right. I'm no psychologist, but I think it's apparent that Cale's biggest issues are confidence based. He needs backing from the coach, being in and out of the side will sink him. Definitely put the right foot forward today. Good game.

I facepalmed when he missed that hand pass though. I thought "I bet that's all the gang on Demonland saw him do for the whole game" and, well, I didn't get much of a surprise when I read the match day thread.

If ever there was a time the stats DO lie! Mrs Morton must have been taking the stats cause i saw none of it. Don't want him to bear the brunt of a pretty overall poor team performance but this guy has everything this team does not need. Soft, poor decision making, poor skills and absolutely no physical presence makes him a complete liability out there.

His goal was the only thing he seriously contributed all night. I maybe thought getting games into him was the answer but we can't afford any passengers like Cale. Not having a crack B.R.F.E., Im sure your stats are accurate, but to read those crap stats after what i saw Just made me angry. I probably shouldnt be posting anything right now.

I did not want to see Cale Morton in our jumper again but let's give credit where it is due. His clangers were really horrible and cost us at times, but his run and effort tonight was first class. He was in our best 5 clearly. If we counted personal clangers I reckon some others would be well ahead of him.

Posted

Morton did well, tried hard, ran hard, used the ball okay, few poor errors but was one of our best and definitely something to work with!

Posted

He mad errors, but nothing greater than the whole. He tried hard, looks to be building his confidence imo.

Saw something in him when he kicked that goal, and it was pretty nice, not getting carried away because he showed his flaws also but he manoeuvres a little bit more like how we know he "can" to get in a position to kick the goal.

It probably says that you aren't very perceptive.

He played ok today. At least he has the ability to get the ball, unlike half of our list.

No, he doesn't have the ability to get the ball. He has the ability to be where the ball is sometimes but that's about it. He's a dud. It's an embarrassment that he wears our jumper. Do I sound angry? That's what happens when I sit and watch insipid footballers.

I'm as disappointed with his development as anyone. But geez who else do you play?

Did a lot better today. Still like the others needs to get his skjlls up to the elite level, where he is supposedly at!!

Cale will keep improving, and prove a lot of you wrong.

I'm amazed so many can watch so much footy for so long, yet still learn so little.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
