Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Agree that they still trump us, but not by much. Do you know the value/type of Compo pick GC have to offer with pick 4? Ours possibly could be stronger. We still might offer a player as well to sweeten it (even though GWS have said they want picks)

Pick 6 just gets us closer to the mark if we are seriously trying to secure O'Meara...

Unless we've conceded O'Meara and are going at Crouch.

Port may be keen on pick 12 to get the Ebert deal done. Giving up 6 for Ebert would be paying overs, but if they trade 6 to us for a player and 12, then 12 to WC for Ebert it's a better deal. I'd be very surprised if Bate was that player though.

Very happy to see Harrington is as keen on the mini-draft as a lot of us around here. I don't care if we get pick 1 or 2, I'd be just as happy with Crouch as O'meara. I can't see anyone trumping pick 12 and a compo pick, if GWS only want picks. Get it done Tim.

Ditto on Crouch, and don't know that it's worth throwing everything at O'Meara. GC could easily trump 12 plus a compo with 4 plus a compo ... but hard to see us not being second cab off the rank. Though for mine, don't know that two mid-ranking picks on what is supposed to be a strong draft (next year) would be worth it for one potential top 5 pick (e.g. Crouch). We already have Viney, who could easily be top 5 in any case, so with what we have in hand, we would end up with Viney plus 3 first round picks next year - well, as long as no-one else bids first round for Viney under the Father/Son rules.

So, IMHO, player plus a compo would be all I'd be going for - though not sure it would be enough to get us one of the (probably) two under-17's on offer.

+1

Very logical.

I believe the Dee's are going to make a statement and trump GC.

I am quitley confident in snaring O'meara.

Pick 6, both compo picks & Warnock for O'meara & GWS Pick 15???

massive overs, Ebert isnt worth a first rounder full stop

Nobody interested in this statement?

To me he said we HAVE been talking to mature player types from other clubs in exchange for Bate, Warnock, Maric types ect

Agreed. It looks like we will be getting on the front foot instead of waiting around and seeing what's being thrown around. Target Recruiting. I like that.

I do believe that pick 6 and 12 is massive overs for Brad Ebert, but you are definitely on the right track.

Ebert will be worth imo somewhere around pick 20 or so and Ports second pick is 33 which is nowhere near what is required to get the deal done.

So if they can get a downgrade form 6 to 12 and something else of value, more than Bate imo this could open up the deal

to then be Ebert and WC first pick 23 for Ports pick 12

or something along these lines

Meaning Port get Ebert, Bate and pick 23 plus a few other things maybe for pick 6 not out of the question imo

Heard on SEN O'Halpin keen to be traded. Any interest? He's can be a bit haywire, prone to brain explosions and his kicking is not the best but he his big enough to be the forward we need and takes a good grab. Thought he was teriffic against Wet Coke.

Warnock and Maric for him?

I don't want to see Setanta at Melbourne and if he does come here, I'd be disappointed if we gave anything better than a pick very late in the draft.

Warnock and Maric would be far far too much.

Pick 4 and compo pick is stronger than pick 6 and compo pick. So I don't see why GC would have to come up with a stronger package, they trump us..

Like I said Port would be crazy..

Maybe you're forgetting that the rumour involves GC getting pick 9 in return with O'Meara?

Then pick 6 and a compo pick definitely wins.

Especially considering the compo pick is really after Geelong's pick, as previously mentioned by others.

What has neeld told him?

The truth?

He's had a big, strong body for years now and has never shown he can use it. Therefore you'd have to call him a medium forward. We have Green, Petterd, Howe, Jurrah, Dunn and Sylvia who I think are all ahead of him. Most would say that at the very least 4 out of those 6 are better footballers.

What does Bate do better than any of these players that means he's worth persisting with?

If I were him, I'd be requesting a trade as well.

Not a bad suggestion really....we are in the market for a small forward. 79 goals.

http://www.sportingp...150677-14505841

Avg. 3.76 goals a game. And topped the list for the year in the VFL..as you say.

Our second pick is at around ~39 (depends upon concession/priority picks in play)..

Agree ... also is amed saad ( spelling?) from the bullants contracted to the blues? could be very lively for us in a crumbing role i reckon....

When the heck do we name our delistings??? other clubs seem to have named theirs...??

I'm glad we haven't yet, there is no need to. No sense in delisting someone who might have some currency on the trade market, no matter how small. Better to negiotiate an upgrade of a late draft pick than delist a player and let a club pick him up for nothing (Buckley).

We should have a firm idea of how many draft picks we want to use this draft so it's best to wait and see if we get any offers and move on a contracted player or two before making those decisions. I'm not 100% certain but I believe Warnock, Bate (Maric?) are contracted for next year. If one or two of them moves on I reckon it may provide a reprieve for Joel Macdonald.

Ahhh sorry, I probably wasn't clear in what I was replying to, I was referring to your second point about pick 12.... I got the bit about our compo pick. :)

... and incidentally I agree, I don't know why the other picks would get involved... but perhaps Port are rating the value of Pick 6 a fair bit higher, hence why we trade our 1st and 2nd picks for their 1st pick and their 3rd one (.... and Bate)

The depth of the draft is unclear & considered shallow, Maybe Port think they stand a better chance with 2 picks inside 35. But it still sounds like Maric may need to be added.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
