Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Injury riddled and white line fever that provides plenty of MRP holidays.

Great when up and firing and could be a gun player....but isn't. Caveat emptor.

Yep, but he could be in a group of 2 - 3 Yr tall forwards that could help tide us over as we teach & develop our young talls. This Idea of an older key tall, helps us with some score board pressure and makes the kids have to fight harder for their spot, rather than a 'right of passage' situation, which can end up with the precious viewpoint of our recent past heroes from the past 10 Years. Putting themselves up like royalty above the club.

We need to get one of these, as we spend up on picks and $$$ to get our midfield beefed up.

We need experience and we need some solid bodies. Wouldn't mind seeing us have a crack at these guys:

Matt White - Tough mid/fwd who uses the ball well. Tigers in need of a ruckman or key defender and a deal could easily be struck.

Brendan Goddard - Needs no explanation as to how he can benefit us. Would have to give up something pretty special to get him.

Chris Masten - According to an article in the age he's considered to be 'trade potential'. Don't know what the asking price would be but he'd certainly be able to slot into our midfield. Doubt we have any chance of getting him.

Brian Lake - Experienced, big bodied and does like to spend time up forward. Doubt he'll leave, but if he does we could easily get him for very little.

How so. He's on huge coin at the bullies with 2 years of a contract to go. Doubt the bullies will pay much/any of it if he leaves.

(Besides which, I wouldn't go for him; he is basically a backman who can play forward on occasion. And too expensive.)

Don't bother. I tried this last season, for Waite. No one wanted to know. He would have been perfect.

He would have been perfect? How many games did he play this season? He never stays on the park. Bad call, IMO.

I meant that we could get him for very little in the sense that we won't have to give up too high a quality player/draft pick to get him. He's experienced and that is something we're desperately lacked.

Matt White isn't exactly a player I'm hoping we'd get. But with Warnock wanting out I'd rather get a ready made player as opposed to a draft pick. Would add a bit of depth at the very least.

Matt White - if he came cheap would not mind

Goddard - goes without saying would love to have him, but what are you prepared to give

Masten - Crab, if you think Bartrams disposal is bad think again, Masten is a great athlete holds junior records at 400 & 800m in WA. Having said that in the last month of 2011 he played a role within Eagles structure but don't rate him at all. If West Coast had taken Morton with pick 3 in 07, we would not have taken Masten. It was well known the Eagles were going to take him with pick 3. Carlton were locked in for Kruezar with pick 1 and Tigers weretossing up between Morton & Cotchin I prayed at the time for them to take Morton but as we know they didn't.

Lake - not what we need, selfish, unsettles the player group and not as good as Chip!

Patrick Rose from Port Melbourne, small forward, kicked 75+ gaols this year, can mark and finds the ball well.

Would be worth a third round pick to knab him?

Not a bad suggestion really....we are in the market for a small forward. 79 goals.

http://www.sportingp...150677-14505841

Avg. 3.76 goals a game. And topped the list for the year in the VFL..as you say.

Our second pick is at around ~39 (depends upon concession/priority picks in play)..

What so we can add him to our number of mid size forwards we already have. Who does he replace Sylvia, Jurrah, Howe, Petterd, Green. Find me some outside mids that are quick and can kick so our forwards have the opportunity to kick goals.

Lol at some of the spuds being suggested on this thread- who said Nason haha I almost choked on my chocolate milk!

People we don't have to trade for trades sake. I want to trade for someone who will be worth it- and that doesn't include grandpa's who are over the hill and have only one good leg left (Lake).

Discuss players who will make an impact and are available, or don't discuss any at all really.

So instead of baking posters who make suggestions while drinking your chocolate milk, perhaps you'd be good enough to contribute someone who can make an impact.

Or don't discuss at all.

You suggested Nason, right? :P

Unfortunately I think any player that is going to be worth it is probably out of reach. I want us to go for a "blue chip" commodity.. a Goddard etc. Definitely no one who struggles to get a game on someone else's list, as they will bring nothing to us.

I covered that in my last post McFloonieloonie and besides your post wasn't just about Nason. Hence... "spuds"

I always liked the saying that if you "haven't anything nice to say, say nothing at all."

I think that sums it up quite nicely. I consider it apt, anyway.

I support meaningful contributions. And I think this of yours...:

I'd also like someone like Goddard, but it's a big long shot.

It will be interesting to see how the Saints go in trade week without a coach....as the second round of interviews will be conducted next week during trade week.

I'm tipping the likes of Watters or Hinkley, etc would want someone like a Goddard or Dal Santo to stay at the Saints.

I accept that.

I struggle to keep sweeping statements to myself and hence usually end up with my foot in my mouth, it seems this is the same for me on forums too.

And for the record I was talking about other spuds as in Jesse White, Mckinley and a few other hacks I've seen mentioned in the past. Ahhh Kosi.. that was the one!

Would much rather draft Ahmed Saad than trade for Byrnes/Nason or draft Rose

What were Saad's stats like for the season? From what I saw of him playing I would be pretty happy with either him or Rose filling the small forward role that definitely needs to be filled this off season by someone half decent.

Fair enough, but even if we go by past drafts, there are very (very) few "class" players that come up - except for players who for whatever reason want out. Richitelli, Burgoyne, McClean (cough cough) etc. wanted to leave their clubs, and nominated where they wanted to go. The vast majority of drafts are for players that are playing in the two's, the Warnocks, Marics (ours) etc. etc

We'd all love to land a Goddard, but I think it's in the realms of fantasyland.

dont want at all, for all the discretions, i share close mates with him, it's not just the fighting i don't like, it's his ben cousins and stephen milne side i don't like, and im not talking about on field.

He kicked 50 goals in 20 games. Average of 2.5 with a high score of 8.

Every time i saw him play he was dangerous. Good speed and makes defenders very nervous. Great goal sense and good skills.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/104511/default.aspx

21 years old but invited to the combine this year. 175kg, 74 kilos. Very new to the game as well.

If he was available at our second pick I would love for us to snap him up.

I can't believe you can't se when we're trying to bring in young players for 2 - 3 games here and there as they adjust before their fully ready, that that scenario is very handy. when the senior playeer canb play some games for the MFC and some with Casey is an Ideal scenario.

If the senior player is full time every weekk in the seniors he's a list clogger.

But if he can share the roster with Cook & Fitzpatrick & McDonald as they slowly mature, I think thats a good model.

Our young players won't be ready to play more than 12 games next year, & most likely well less.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
