Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If we make a play for Setanta, all my faith in our list management department will be lost - he is an absolute hack who is made to look reasonable by the midfield that delivers the ball to him.

But I thought we needed a big-bodied forward presence.......

If it is someone of that standard, we'd be much better off using Martin or Gawn.

Controversial I know (and pie in the sky) but I'd throw both our compo picks plus Jamar for Pendlebury. We need a gun mid more than anything else and I think we have the ruck stocks to cover the Russian in two years time. Jolly is looking on his last legs at the Pies but having a gun ruck was a massive ingredient in their 2010 flag win.

I still think we'll be fine for tall forwards, just need to be patient.

It was more bagging the people who want to trade for Kosi. I think we've got enough forwards ATM. (But to be honest, I'd prefer the big Setant over Kosi anyway...)

Yeah, I would be all for trading for a quality player who can fill the role, but there aren't many available at the moment, and a midfielder should be number one priority anyway IMO. I

If Meatloaf is the rock and roll equivalent of Sheedy I can only surmise that the Beiber equivalent would be Scully. Seeing as Bieber is a talentless haircut masquerading as a pop star, I feel its safe to conclude that Scully is equally devoid of talent and substance and is a draft pick masquerading as a footballer. Then again I could be wrong.

GWS have to trade the four 17 year olds though, don't they?

They have 2 years to do it over and they don't HAVE to, but they can and it's in their best interests to do so because they can't pick up those players.in that year.

I love the big russian, BUT, for Pendlebury??? That may make me change my mind. I can't see the pies letting him go, but if the club reckon we can get him it could be worth taking a shot.

I seriously doubt the potential of that trade proposal.

Collingwood would want an ageing ruckman to extend their window?

Wouldn't trading their best young midfielder close that window on them?

Swan, Thomas and Ball are all great, but Pendlebury is clearly best of the lot in my eyes.

Pendlebury would be the dream and we know he rates Meeks highly, so maybe if he has a bad year with bucks he may come over.

If one is to dream it may as well be big!

I would like to see us trade for Jarred Waite.... He is rumoured to be having contract issues at Carlton and is an extremely talented forward with mongrel.

Don't bother. I tried this last season, for Waite. No one wanted to know. He would have been perfect.

Injury riddled and white line fever that provides plenty of MRP holidays.

Great when up and firing and could be a gun player....but isn't. Caveat emptor.

Looking through the possible trade options in the age newspaper this morning i saw that they had Liam Anthony listed from North as possible trade bait. I think someone like that could fill a role in our midfield and i don't think he's been discussed on our board recently.

He could provide some strength around the stoppages and he knows how to rack them up.

Chris Knights from Adelaid is also another i'd be interested in. With David Misson on board i'd back us in to get recently injury prone players back on the park.

The way the rules on compo picks read, when one is traded, if it is not activated for that year, the team receiving it can choose to activate it for the upcoming draft, or keep it for later years.

That also indicates that a team receiving an activated pick can actuality de-activate it, saving it for later when it might be worth more.

Based on that, if we were to trade for Brisbane's pick 30, actually the end of 1st round compo pick for Harbrow that the Lions received in the Sherman trade, we could deactivate it and use it at pick 20 in 2013 or 2014.

Obviously the rules would need to be clarified with AFL house.

Maybe not worth it in the end, but an option worth considering if we are to trade with Brisbane at all.

I wouldn't mind Jack Redden.

From those lists, I think Nason from nthMond, Farren Ray, Kozi and Goddard from StK and Chris Dawes are all worth consideration - I used to think it might be worth pursuing Jesse White, but I'm not so sure about that anymore after some of his "passenger" like performances with the Swans this year.

On a slightly different tack, I see that Ling is likely to announce his retirement... is that code for "going to GWS"?

A year or 2 ago i was all for trading in Jesse White too....but the gut is a hack.

My brother is a Swans supporter and the support on the Swans forums isn't good....i also went to the Swans v Hawthorn prelim a couple of weeks ago and must say that the guy isn't a power forward at all. He just doesn't hit the packs/stands and watches the play. There was occasions when you could tell he was generally supprised to get the ball...then crap himself and rush a kick. He isn't the answer to our forward line.

I'd be looking at Lewis Johnston, Jordan Lisle & Callum Wilson before Jesse White.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
