Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Warnock wanting out could be good for us in that if there is no other ready made key position defender out there (a la Lake) who is looking for a new home then his price goes up a bit.

I believe Bate will at the least be offered up because we have too many of a similar type and he isn't mobile enough down forward (and nor is he the elite midfielder we need even though he has gone ok in there for Casey and in Round 24).

I can also see Maric being off loaded.

The question is two fold- does anyone want our players and will these players go there?

I can see one or two Vic clubs perhaps taking a nibble at Warnock however as i have stated on another thread, his greatest currency mght be with GWS. He is virtually assured of a game every week, will see plenty of the ball and they get a big strong body to help out the young kids. On the flip side, if Melbourne can package him with one of the compensation picks for O'Meara then i am all for it.

After all, we do need to build that elite midfield...

Don't know what interest there would be in Bate or Maric but we won't get much for them. They may be good for a couple of pick upgrades which can then be packaged together to trade for a player Neeld thinks we might need as an interim filler until the kids come on?

Bater has changed parts of his game, and is attacking the ball differently, and more ferociously.

Time to trade Jamar. He's a top 10 pick in this years draft possibly higher. If we want some serious quality coming in we have to offer quality. We could have virtually anyone who wanted a trade with Jamar. Clubs would join the cue. The club needs to be bold.

Not technically a trade/delisting issue, but according to todays Age, Emma Quayle believes highly touted Casey defender Tim Mohr is likely to be one of the players GWS take as a pre-listed player (ie. They get a free hit on guys not on lists who have previously nominated for drafts, think Krakouer, Mzungu last year).

Is a BIG unit and has an AFL ready bod. Haven't seen enough of him to know what he offers though.

You seen much of him Dave?

The quickest way to ruin a footy club would be to give the bullet to "good, hard working, loyal" players. Is Jamar to be traded to a billiards club or another footy club?

Without wanting to criticize any of our players, who do you expect will be on the trade table/delisted over the next few weeks? (more interested in discussing who we think will be moved on, than any disrespectful pots at players we think deserve to go but we know will stay please)

As and example, IMO I expect either Bate or Dunn are likely to be moved on, but not both. Both can fill similar roles, but neither are in our best 22. Keeping one for back up to Pettard, Jurrah, Watts, Green if injured is ideal, but the second would be superfluous. Bate played a few good games in early 2009 (or 10...it's a blur) before being injured, and would be great if could get that form back. Dunn showed some good passion this year, and some diversity in the roles he can play. Thoughts?

Who else to we expect to see departing?

Moving on would mean de-listing, trading is a very inprecise activity. I doubt whether the club would have initially planned to get rid of Cheney last year, but open discussion can lead to the unexpected. To delist Bate and Dunne is a risk given our young list, to trade depends on whether anyone wants someone supporters deem no good at Melbourne for maybe pick 60. Does that offer a better option than experience. What would we want to give up for a quality player, pick 12? Otherwise forget it.

Well, combining my interest in (hmm.... let's just say curiousity about) Lachlan Hansen, and the fact that I'm also well over Dunn, I think it would be great if we could arrange for Dunn and Brent Harvey to play alongside eachother at the 'Roos. They sure do get along.

I've watched Hansen closely this year and quiet frankly, I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole. He's soft, has below average footy IQ, terrible decision maker and he's hopeless by foot. He's a hell of a lot more frustrating to watch than Dunn too.

We can do better than going after Norf's damaged goods.

Who is out of contract for us? at least on this forum, it seems like bate and dunn's names are the only ones being brought up. Neeld surely is going to freshen up the list more than that.

Who do you think should be in the gun?

Bate, Dunn, Warnock, Maric, Batram, MacDonald, Wonaeamirri, and Spencer are those that I believe are in trouble of losing their spot on the senior list.

Warnock and Maric are in danger of deletion.

Bate, Dunn, Batram, and Spencer are/or will be surplus soon (tough one with Batram - he is a committed player with an excellent work ethic) and may be traded.

If trades don't eventuate I can see the club trying to get some wiggle room by putting Wonna on the Rookie List.

Geez I feel sorry for Barty. He cops so much sh!t on this site, and like Jones, I think it is quite unfair. He is one of the best taggers on our list, and would take a couple of bloody good players to make him surplus.

ive select this bit of your quote as it struck me as a sort of "D'oh" . This should and ought to be the way to go. There needs to be a reality of where both parties are at and acts of good faith by both. I think all things considered it might be a slightly rich impost to just give Aussie a senior spot willy nilly. Not because hes incapable as his plainly is ( uninjured) but because it might be somewhat unfair to another kid.

Aussie could easily break back into the seniors with dedication and application but his head has to be in the right place and theres no guaranteee of that ( just being horriby realisitc )

The Rookie list is a fair path back imho

I guess my grave assessment can be considered 'sh!t.'

He is all heart, and I love his attack on the footy and the man.

But he struggles to hit targets and doesn't realise his limitations.

He can become an effective role player, but if Neeld cannot turn him into a disciplined role player who is happy getting more tackles than touches, then he will find it difficult to get a game.

I like Bartram's work ethic as well. But it is quite obvious that being the best anything on our list, is not sufficient.

I dont think anyone really has it in for Barty, if 'only' he didnt murder the ball !! He doesnt need to be a magician with it to be useful and effective he just needs to give it off asap to someone who knws what to do with in. As a negator/link man he has a lot of upside....if he can get that link thing happening...otherwise hes just another NQR...life's harsh sometimes hey !!

Gee, Chris Dawes didn't really impress me tonight. I also learnt that the most goals he has kicked in a game this year is three. I don't know if he is worth chasing too hard.

Yeah - He was terrible

He just kicked 3 in The Preliminary & crashed the pack open nearly every time the ball went forward for The Filth tonight.

Why would we need him?

Chris Dawes is exactly the player that we need.

He presented all night, crashed every pack, tackled ferociously, and threw his body at the ball and player at every opportunity...and kicked three goals.

He is exactly the player that we need. We should be doing everything in our power to get him.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
