I think what occured is Demetriou thought he was ordering 120 kg of meatloaf (the dish) , the order got buggered up in the translation and he ended up with Meatloaf (the singer). Couldn't back out of the order and the rest is history.

Sadly, yes!

It would be inconceivable to have quality entertainment at the Granny after such an illustrious history of crap. And whilst digging up Franks lifeless corpse to raise the entertainment standard does sound appealing, i fear there are laws to prohibit such unsavoury activities. May I suggest we stick to the game plan and enshrine into the laws of the game that every Grand Final from here to eternity must include one or two of the following acts, Julie Anthony, The Seekers, Barry Crocker, Angry Anderson, Dennis Walter, Marina Prior and to keep the young ones happy that gorgeous poppet Nicki Webster ( not the penthouse pet variety ) and any of the still alive young talent team. With a lineup so devoid of artistic relevance or contemporary credibility we will ensure that the AFL remains at the forefront of 1970's culture.

Won't have Young Talent Time talent next year, the GF is on 7. They won't want to be promoting another network.

My biggest fear is they have the so-called 'stars' from Dancing With The Stars.....

Meat Loaf obviously has no artistic integrity, if he did he wouldn't allow for his songs to be butchered so badly... let alone do it himself.

Worst music entertainment for a sporting event I've ever seen, even worse than Ashlee Simpson at the Super Bowl.

I heard some of Meat Heads GF work on the Radio this morning. It was worse than a version of Khe sahn at a kareoke bar after the singer has killed 37 Beers!!

Clearly the Shoddiest effort by the AFL so far. Shame Demetrio/Anderson Shame

Just took my first full run through of this performance.

Disgraceful is underwhelming - He was clearly off his head on drugs.

Angry Anderson is finely Free of the title.

Jonothon Brown singing "Sweet Caroline" has got to be seriuosly looked at for the 2012 Grand Final.

Love the way Mr Loaf sent up Andrew Demetriou at the press conference. Forget grand final day that was entertainment enough for me.

I reckon we could get Kevin "Bloody" Wilson for a decent price

Has got some ripper songs and would probably write a new one just for the occasion

Todays Hun says he was paid $600 000.

We could get Frank for a lot less DC.

In fact you and I could split the $10 000 spotters fee

what do you think?

Be like taking candy from a baby old dee

Anyone could do a better job than MeatHead and MeatLoaf

Personally I don't see what a rock band (or similar) adds to the occasion. Would rather watch the TAC final as an entre and minimal "entertainment"

Now there is an idea!

A game before the main game, sounds a bit radical to me.

Probably need to be trialled as it has never been done before.

Perhaps in the pre season.

Hang on it was done for a 100 years i think.

PS I remember well getting to the ground and standing through under 19's, reserves before the main game.

Loved it

Just proves not all changes are for the better.

Now you are talking.....K.B.Wilson...A man with true Talent..Imagine a 100,000 people all singing along to "Sunday Morning Throwing Up" A golden momnt indeed...

I remember Frank "I remember you" Ifield too.

The Beatles and Dylan came along and he was instantly outdated.

How 'bout Burl Ives...? Couldn't be worse than Loaf,M.

Have to admit to having a soft spot for Burl ever since I first heard his version of the Dylan song "I'll be Your Baby Tonight". I know I've said I'd prefer contemporary Australian talent, but if I was to choose one act from any place and any era to play the opening song as a lead in to a GF, it would be Elvis Costello and the Attractions doing "Pump it Up".

What a classic Song....

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
