Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

TAC Cup Grand Final 2011

Travelled up from Gippsland today and met a friend who travelled almost as far from the other side of Melbourne at the TAC GF today. We were both pleasantly surprised at the high standard of skills on display by both teams, in particular the low penetrating kicks and the one grab marks under pressure. I havn't watched much junior footy of late and thought that the kicking had improved immeasurably over the last 3 years and my mate, a former Geelong player, now actively involved in junior and VCFL football agreed that what we saw in many cases today was superior to some AFL games in terms of low direct foot passing, kicking at pace and under pressure and the scoreboard tells us, accurate set shots for goal.

Viney was a standout. His attack on the ball would be a lesson to many AFL players. He is listed at 178cms and 77 kgs, DOB 13 April 1994, making him one of the younger players on the ground. He thoroughly deserved his "BOG trophy" and along with Adam Tomlinson (192cms & 86kgs) impressed as two of the best Oakleigh Chargers. From the Sandy Dragons I liked the look of Jackson Paine(193kg & 87kgs), Alex Woodward(179cms & 79kgs) and Jackson Coleman(196cms & 91kgs).

Loved the game and will make it a must see game each year to get a heads up on a few of the promising kids running around in junior grade.

Would like to see other comments.

Kongwacker, I honestly didn't think Tomlinson was a standout. Looked a bit slow and lethargic at times, and cost them the game with that shocking kick attempting to come back in side out of fullback.

Toby Greene- Man crush, been saying it ever since he tore Xavier apart for Wesley. Kicked 4 in the last quarter with Xavier's two best players hanging off him.

Dom Tyson- Scott Pendlebury Mark II. Strong in the clinch, clever handballs and amazing user

Jack Viney- God was I impressed with him. Relentless at the football, and I cannot wait to see him do it in the Red and Blue.Everything he did typified courage, one incident where he just backed back into a pack, got crunched by a player 20 cms and 20kgs bigger, yet bounced up and tackled again.

Story in todays Age that Viney has signed a five year deal with us, I wasnt aware of the length of the deal before this, and that he will split his football

next year between Carey Grammar and Casey.

34 touches and everything is great - but the best thing is the "violent Sam Mitchell" description. We've all seen Mitchell Kick people on the field without a second thought, does Jack bring a knife to the game or something?

Also, It's curious that Jack is allowed to play VFL next season. I guess it's comparable to the many kids that run around in the WAFL or the SANFL, but it's just a bit of an oddity for a 17 yr old (not wearing orange and yellow) to be running around in the Victorian competition...really what I mean is, CAN'T HE JUST SLOT INTO OUR MIDFIELD FOR 2012?

Unfortunately nope. The draft rules are very rigid and he cannot officially be drafted to the club until next years draft (because he is too young to be eligible this year). But if Melbourne can have him do the same pre-season as the 2011 draftees and then have him at Casey as much as possible next year he will be as ready as we're allowed to get him for the 2013 season. And it also means that if he can start an AFL level modified pre-season this year to nurse him into it, his body will be ready for a FULL pre-season in 2013 leading into Round 1.

TtM9 I saw more of Tomlinson because he seemed to be on our side of the ground most of the game and yes he made a crucial mistake which cost that vital goal, but he did way more good stuff and I do like players who can kick the ball. I marked down 6-7 from each side with Greene, Tyson, Mascitti and Pearce amongst Oakleigh and some of Sandy's talls, Darrou and Richards as almost AFL ready and Fallon and Seccull as handy. What about the standard of skills and the pace of the game.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
